One of the things that appeals to me very much about Clarendale Clayton is that they have progressive care. In other words, the greater portion of the building is for independent living, they have a section, which is smaller, for assisted living, and then they also have a section for memory care. And I think that it's a very good model to take care of the needs of the residents because if we all live long enough, we naturally require more care the older we get, and you don't have to move out of a facility to be able to access the increased level of care. The staff who gave the tour was very, very helpful and very gracious. We had talked on the phone before I left Virginia to come to Missouri, and it was amazing. She did her homework. She wrote down my name, my two sons' names, my dog's name, and she asked me about all of them. She listened when I told her what was within my budget on a monthly basis, and she was very efficient in showing us what was available for that amount of money per month. The building is a high rise. It's the biggest facility that I looked at in terms of population and space. There are 13 floors. They have some penthouse apartments at the top, which I could not afford. The staff showed us an apartment on the third floor, and it was a nice layout. For the same amount of money that I'm paying now in Manassas, Virginia, they're at the Clarendale Clayton, they have a full-service kitchen including an electric stove, a full-size refrigerator, the storage space and appliances to prepare any of your own meals that you wanted to. They have a point system for how many points you have per month to spend for food and beverage services. Also, they have a washer and dryer in each apartment, so you don't have to be in competition for other people to use the washers and dryers. Another way that the Clarendale Clayton was unique is that the staff said that it would be possible for me to come back to bring my little dog and I could stay there free of charge for up to 2 or 3 weeks just to try it out the atmosphere and everything in order to make a more informed decision.

I toured Clarendale Clayton yesterday. I like the facility and everything they offer best. The staff was excellent. Communication-wise, they offer so much. All of the staff were awesome. They are top-rated, no doubt about it. The place is very vibrant. They allow you to age in place, but they keep their assisted living and memory care in a separate building. The point is that in other places you don't have to change rooms, you can age in place. Whereas in Clarendale you change to the other side so that you're with other people who are in assisted living and memory care. But it's also, when you're in independent living, you're with people at a similar stage in life and I think that keeps it more vibrant, and I like that.

I toured a place called Clarendale Clayton. It's a beautiful 14-story building. The lobby is elegant. It's like being in a hotel. The rooms are nice. I had a nice tour. The downside was it was a little too modern for my taste. The lobby looks like a hotel lobby. They have no outdoor space. They have a terrace on the 14th floor, which is your only access to the outdoors, and it's not a huge terrace. But the facilities are great. They have all the amenities like a swimming pool, a movie theater, and all the exercise stuff. I looked at the menu and it looked very nice for what they offer, but how it tasted, I have no idea. The staff who toured me was good. She was very professional. She provided me with a very nice package of information. I liked the place very much, but I'm not a big modern guy, and I want an outdoor space other than just a terrace. So that's my second choice.

I toured Clarendale Clayton. The facility is beautiful. The staff was fantastic, so attentive like above and beyond normal customer service. What we didn't like is that my mom has a dog, and there's nothing on the first floor. There's no first-floor apartment. So, she would have to take an elevator with the dog to go outside. The rooms are bright, open, very, very nice construction, and thoughtful to detail. The only other bad thing about their construction was that you had to go outside of the room to go into the bathroom. There's no doorway right from the bedroom to the bathroom. The food was delicious. The dining area was done restaurant style, and so white tablecloth and wait service. It's beautiful. The living atmosphere was lovely and high-class. They have a beauty salon and a gym. There's a rooftop lounge with garden areas. There's nothing on the first floor, nothing on the main level. But there's a rooftop garden area and a very large area where you can entertain your guests. Let's say a family is coming over to have a birthday party or something, there's a very large rooftop lounge with a big kitchen and the living room and fireplace, and then outdoor seating to entertain your family. There's a private dining room that you can reserve to have your family over that seats eight. So that was lovely. That was nice.

We visited this facility for our own potential residency. The facility was top of the line. The one thing we didn't like was the very limited availability of surface parking. There is garage parking available at an extra cost. The intent of the facility is for the residents to use their shuttle service; however that doesn't take into account the many other travel destinations that residents may have. The place had the feeling of a luxury hotel. We found the food service different than other independent living facilities in that it was an open restaurant from the start to the end of the day instead of the others that had certain hours for their meals. Being a high rise, the views are better than those having only 2 to 4 stories. The living spaces were adequate to roomy with a high quality of interiors.

I visited the Clarendale Clayton. I met the people at the front desk and my tour guide, Jennifer. She was delightful and very informative. She really knew the facility very, very well. It was very nice. The decor was rather contemporary, but not overly so. It was very clean. It was very comfortable and inviting to me. Their grounds are limited because they don't have a campus. They built up, not out. The landscaping is very nice for the limited space that they have outside. I was invited for a meal, but I was not able to stay. I was there on a weekend, so there wasn't so much going on. I saw a group of men visiting in the coffee shop, which is part of Clarendale. They had their dogs with them. They also accept pets. I really liked the floor plans of their apartments. They were spacious and well-designed.

I went to Clarendale Clayton. I saw the interiors, a number of different apartments or suites, a fitness area, and the restaurants. I got a pretty complete tour of the facility. The location was very good. It's almost brand new, so it's very nice. The staff was great and answered all our questions. They had a theater where they show films and some nice lounge areas. It was pretty expensive for me though. I didn't think it was gonna be realistic for me to live there. It's an excellent facility, but it's a high-rise, and from my point of view, where it's located, it's not really conducive to walking out into a neighborhood or to a park or something like that. There's a parking garage, but I like having my car outside the door where I can just walk out without going on an elevator. They do have a valet, but they cost money, too.
