This is a sister facility of Paseo Residential Care, but the atmosphere is completely different. The administrator and the employee who gave me a tour were very friendly and welcoming. The administrator appeared to be very busy but still spent a generous amount of time with me. The age range of residents was greater than in some facilities I've visited. I believe the youngest was probably in his thirties, and the focus of the facility is on assisted living for individuals in need of mental and behavioural health care. When I asked if they would be able to accommodate my elderly grandparents, one of whom is in a wheelchair, they were certain they could, but I believe this facility would be a better fit for those with cognitive issues, not just the usual physical difficulties of ageing. The building is another converted single-family home. It is older and it looks as though it is somewhat run down from hard wear but I think the administrator takes the best care of it that he can. The kitchen in this facility seemed sufficiently clean, but one of the restrooms was out of order and the living areas seemed worn down to me. However, the house is on a beautiful, older street lined with large, leafy trees. Some of the other houses in the area are impeccably maintained and finished, while others need a lot of work. The house is only about three streets away from the Historic Hyde Park, and is definitely in the centre of the improving historic district. Ultimately, this facility is toward the bottom of the cost range for Assisted Living facilities, and that becomes apparent in terms of the physical building itself, and the fact that three or four residents share most bedrooms. However, the staff and administrator were some of the most genuinely caring, gentle people I have met and I felt that individuals with certain budgetary limitations would probably get better, more individualised care and attention here than in many similarly-priced facilities.
