My father lived there until he passed in March. He started out in Assisted Living and then went to Memory Care. The staff was very patient and actually understood the complexities of Alzheimer’s. They wouldn’t freak out when he became agitated. They were gentle with him and I appreciated that. When he was there I finally had the peace of mind that I needed to be able to live worry free. I was able to be his daughter as opposed to his caregiver, although you never really give that title up. I believe my dad was happy there. I wish I had him there sooner. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are small but, that’s all Daddy needed. Anything bigger would be problematic. The food was great. I would sometimes eat with him and was left satisfied. The staff is phenomenal. I will be forever grateful to them. True professionals. And if there was a concern it would be addressed promptly. Overall, we had a great experience.

My elderly friend has a studio room and it is just the perfect size for her. She loves the walk-in shower, which was a huge part of her decision to choose The Ashton on the Plaza. I haven't tasted the food yet, but my friend loves sandwiches and she hasn't been disappointed yet. She can't believe they make the breakfast food just the way she likes it. I can't say enough great things about all the staff. I'm not going to say them by name because I will surely forget someone, but they are so welcoming, helpful, patient and just so sincere. I love The Ashton on the Plaza!

My mother was a resident of The Ashton on the Plaza. It's a very nice environment. Many of the staff are exceptional, they're caring, and they work hard. It's just the kind of place I think was a very good home for my mother. It's really nice and the people there were nice and professional. The food looked great. I just brought my own lunch because you have to pay for the meals. I tasted a few things off of her plate and it was really good. The person who did the maintenance was a very hard worker and very dedicated. Even though he was in maintenance, he cared about the staff and interacted with them. He was exceptional. Housecleaning had some lapses. Sometimes it was hard to tell if my mom's room had been cleaned on a weekly basis, but we got that straightened out. They were attentive when we talked to them about things. They would get right on it and investigate. It seemed like they always wanted to know how to improve and be better, but I always thought they were pretty good. They had some flood damage and it took them a long time to get that professionally restored. They had programs. They had exercises like seated exercise. They had bingo every day. They'd have coloring. They would take them on bus rides. My mom used to like to sit on the balcony on the second floor a lot. They were bought by a new company called Sonida and they were really gung-ho on making it even better. They were starting to put some of those things into operation. It's a very good value.

My mom has lived at the Ashton for almost two years and has been happy there. The rooms are a bit small but adequate for her needs. The best part about the Ashton is their staff, they really seem to care about all the residents and are friendly and helpful. They have a full social calendar with a variety of different activities for the residents and their families too. My mom has benefited greatly from the PT/OT program that is on site, they are wonderful! We have found the management to be responsive when we have had any issues. Highly recommend the Ashton for an assisted living community.

My mother has been a resident here for 4 years. I LOVE the staff here. They work hard in caring for my mother. There are some here worth their weight in gold. All the directors sincerely care and try hard to meet the needs of the residents. They could not do more for you. Example: Kayla took my mother to dental appt. She could not havre been more helpful and respectful. Took tender care of my mother. I so appreciated her help and support. It is a beautiful facility. My mom’s room overlooks the plaza fountain. My mother is happy here and calls it home. That is what matters most to me.

My mom has been in memory care (Magnolia Trails) for almost 2 years. I toured almost every facility in Kansas City and Ashton by far exceeded expectations. The rooms are like small apartments and the color scheme makes them very homey. The staff is amazing to not only my mom, but to me also. They have been my support through every step of the way. They are never to busy to answer questions or just to talk if I'm upset. The food is remarkable! There is a daily menu and also an all the time menu plus snacks throughout the day. There are so many activities and Kayla the activities director is amazing! She takes them on field trips, does nails, goes on walks, makes every holiday super special and even does things for football days. The truth is, nobody will ever treat your parents how you do, but the love the staff has is amazing. My mom has her dignity at all times, she is fed, she has her hair done in cute styles every day, she gets her nails painted, she plays games and does artwork, she smiles and laughs and when she is sundowning they know what to do and handle it with the utmost respect. I can't imagine taking this journey anywhere else. Thank you all of the staff for everything you do!

The property is beautiful and very clean. The rooms are lovely and well laid out for various levels of mobility. The nursing staff are incredibly patient and I very much appreciate that the staff make every effort to keep residents active, healthy with lots of social opportunities. There’s much variety in programming in the building. My grandmother, who spent her first 95 years in a single family home, has been made to feel welcome and appreciated.

The rooms vary but for the most part are spacious in size that come with a kitchenette. My dad is located on the memory care floor - the staff are amazing and very patient. The activities coordinator makes sure this floor is extremely inviting - she decorates for the holidays to watch parties down for ball season. The care coordinator and resident facility director always ask how my mom is doing - extremely thoughtful. I appreciate everything they do for my dad... we chose correctly when selecting this facility.

My father lives at The Ashton on the Plaza. The care that they give is phenomenal. They do what they say they're going to do. They check on my father every two hours through the night. He's always clean and everything. The staff is friendly and really caring. The food is great. The chef does a good job at seasoning the food. I think some of the carpet in the rooms could be either cleaned or changed. Other than that, the facility is clean. He does painting and music, and he has physical therapy in the building. He's been to several places, and I would say it's worth it.

The Room my husband is in is small but adequate he doesn’t need much anyway and actually he doesn’t need to be in a big room. The food is pretty good if they’re on the third floor where they need a lot of help they might consider another menu. Those people can’t use knives and sometimes need help eating. The staff is friendly and very nice. They are spread pretty thin though.

I went and toured The Ashton on the Plaza. I thought it was very nice. They had memory care on one floor, but it was very expensive. Nevertheless, it was very nice and clean. The people were very nice. The rooms were upscale, and I don't think that my loved one could handle that. She can't be left in a room that looks like a hotel room. It was very expensive, but the place offered a lot of exercise and daily activities. The staff members were very nice. They were very helpful. I learned more at this place from their nurse about what was going on. She took the time out to explain and go over a lot of stuff with me that no one had.

My experience was great. It was excellent. Everyone was friendly. It was a beautiful place inside and outside. There was nice architecture. The situation where it's located was good because you have a view of the Plaza from the upper floor levels. The rooms were nice and set up well. There seemed to be a lot of activities. They take them out in a van, and they kind of insist on the people going. They don't want them to become isolated or whatever. It was a nice facility. The lady gave us all the information and took us on a tour. She has also called since I visited just to check to see how far along we'd come and how my husband was doing. They showed us the menu, what kind of food they have and the variety of food. They have a lot of activities that they put together themselves. There are different areas there. They have like a theater room and different rooms where you can have a little private get-together or whatever. It's set up nice. It's an excellent place. It probably would be my choice if I have to make a choice.

It was an extremely new, clean, and bright facility. Everything seems to be state-of-the-art, they have decent amenities. The staff seemed fine, they're great. They didn't have a swimming pool, which was one of the things we're looking for. They have whirlpool tubs and some of the rooms have great views. They're centrally located in the plaza area, there's on-site parking for visitors, and they have several different dining rooms and activity rooms.
