Folkestone was very nice. We met quite a few residents there, and then some of the staff. Some people were actively participating in different things. We didn't try any food. It was quiet and serene. I like living there, it's calm. They were playing puzzles, and they were setting up to have crossword puzzles. Everybody is participating and filling in the crossword puzzle. There were people reading. People were in another room and the hall just doing normal activities. The staff was very friendly. They said hi to the person giving us the tour. The people that were living there said they were very happy. My mom just didn't like the fact that the doorway was not next to the bedroom, and that was the only objection she had. Otherwise, she liked the place. It's very clean. They're wonderful.

Falls, neglect, medication errors, long waits for aides, pendant calls turned off with no help given, cover up on issues of why and how residents fall, why cares not given, etc, etc. If u consistently visit your loved one + talk to.other family members you will find that unacceptable cares of residents are widespread. I observed residents sitting in dining room for 2 plus hrs after dinner because they were the "quiet' ones who could be ignored; aides are not held responsible for neglect ..even when it resukts in an injury; all mistakes are termed "learning opportunities " by a top heavy administrative staff...3-4 for 25- 30 residents....who spend 90% of their time in back offices; same issues brought up for years by families with no improvements; if you complain, admin tells you that you should probably find a new facility for your loved one...this happened to four families that we KNOW of and most likely, many more. Unless you have time to visit 8 hrs a day, this is not a safe place and many family members have hired private aides to come in because the care by staff was not acceptable. That is a heavy financial burden when you are already paying so much for the care your loved one is supposed to be receiving.

Folkestone has assisted living up to memory care and nursing homes. It is a new and nice community. They have very nice rooms too. They have lots of very good people that work there. We didn't have any problems with them. They have good food too. The dining area is nicely run. Each area has its own small dining area. There were quite a few people, but it seemed pretty efficient. It wasn't overwhelmingly large. In the memory care unit there were a lot of activities, like games and activities to promote memory help. They made the activity fun and interesting. We were very happy with it. This place is brand new; it's only a few years old. There are a variety of activities that keep people interested in the memory care unit.

Please do not send a loved one here if you care about them. Extremely short staffed and over worked. The employees do not care about about the residents. The building is a mess. It looks nice but has leaks and floods monthly. Some apartments have mold from the leaking. Food is very bad. Management does not care about the residents only the money. Very bad place. I can't believe this facility has not been shut down yet. Staff constantly are making medication errors, so bad people have even died. Please I urge you to find a new home for loved ones.

Folkestone looks very nice, fresh, and new, like a hotel from the lobby. The staff is very friendly and know the residents by name. We have a movie theater, a social group, and a singing group. The food is excellent, the dining room is very nice, and the staff know what the residents want.

Folkestone is very close to the downtown area, and a lot of things are in walking distance. There is a grocery store right within the complex. It’s a brand new facility; dad’s room is a one-bedroom, with living area, and a small kitchenette. They have exercise activities and ice cream socials, and they have a bus that can take them out.

At first I was favorably impressed with Folkestone, but there was nobody there to show me around when I got there. I saw the dining room, and it looked very nice. They had a swimming pool and a tennis court. The security and safety seemed very good.

Folkestone was a brand new facility and I just went on the reputation of Presbyterian Home. The most impressive part of the place was the reputation; the all-in exclusive nature of the facility; and the location. They were trying to make it a full life experience and that's an isolated experience. The people I talked with so far had years of experience with the company. But I hadn't met the actual staff.
