I like that Traditions of La Crescent was very small, and it felt like family. The staff is very cheerful, very encouraging, and they treat him like he's their father. They enjoy spending time with the residents. The dining area feels like home, and they don't have assigned tables. He can have breakfast whenever he wants to. It's very individualized and very casual. If he doesn't like something, they make him something different. They completely refurbished the room that he has moved into. It was designed for two people, which they've now made for one person, so it's very spacious. It has two windows instead of just one, and it's very well lit. The recreation director sees to it that the people are busy or are given a purpose. They play Bingo, and they went on a van to see some Christmas lights. When the director sees somebody looks a little bored, she gives them a task to do. It's an older building, but his room had been completely refurbished, so if they continue doing that, they're going to have a great place. It's very affordable given the cost of memory care.

Traditions of La Crescent was my top choice for my mother. It's nice, small, quaint, and friendly. Everybody working there was on top of things. The rooms were very spacious with a bathroom and windows. The dining area was nice and pretty spacious. We also toured the kitchen. It's a locked facility and they have 24-hour care. There's a living area with a TV, and there were other family members there visiting. They have an outdoor patio where residents and family members can go out and it's locked.

Staff is friendly and seem to know residents well. Small place, easy to navigate for all, especially residents with memory loss. Changing food menus, offering alternatives. Always trying to improve.

Clara House (Claddagh House) has some very nice people there and they do a pretty good job, but I think they could be a little more attentive to their residents' needs. They weren’t doing the laundry for my mother-in-law. The lady in the room with Mom, who's been there for two weeks, still didn’t have her cable hooked up. Otherwise, the residents get fed a lot and often, and the place is clean enough. The director pretty much gets things taken care of and she's really good that way. They have a bulletin board where they post their activities, what their upcoming meals are going to be, and their field trips. They also have Bingo to keep them busy. My mom-in-law helps at the senior diner every day and that’s really important to her.

I've heard good things about Claddagh House since they opened. It's very known in our area here. Local people owned it and I know them. They believe in holistic health and the best part was, there was an opening which is very rare. We're really lucky to have my parents there. They are very caring and helpful. I'm glad I called at the right time to check on the facility for my parents. What stands out the best is the way my parents are treated there. It's like a home away from home. They are constantly looking out for them and doing what they can do to make them happy. They have home cooked meals, organic food as much as they can and the care is just super. They are always checking on them. The people there are trained to do this kind of caring. They got a large room and each one has a full batch and two closets. The room was big enough and so we have them both there with two beds, television, desk, refrigerator. They also have a full kitchen and a living room. They are very happy there since they moved in.
