My aunt moved into Riley Crossing Senior Living. Her room is very nice. It's a good choice for us. The staff is very good. The food is very good. The facility is only four years old, so it's nice. They had a car that was attached to a daycare center. They had a carnival with the kids from a daycare center, which was quite the deal. They always have stuff going on, and my aunt is getting involved, so we were very pleased. It's one of the cheaper ones. The atmosphere is very nice. Everybody is upbeat.

My mother-in-law is now placed at Riley Crossing Senior Living. It's relatively new and has all the amenities that we're looking for. It's very close to our home as far as convenience for us to go and see my mother-in-law. Also, for my father-in-law can come to stay with us until he decides that he's ready to go into an independent or assisted living, so that was a big reason, too. And this place is beautiful. So it has everything we need and want. It's very clean and very modern. The artwork they have there is done by a local artist, so it feels very like Minnesota. My mother-in-law likes particular artists, and so it was like this was just up her alley. In the independent living area, they have like a library, a sitting room, a fitness center, and things like that. In memory care, they have a variety of activities. They have a daycare center that's attached, so on a daily basis, the people in memory care, assisted and independent can do different activities with the children. And so for my mother-in-law, that's great because she's always been very good with children and always enjoys time with children. So that was very exciting for us. The staff is absolutely wonderful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. They have other community rooms and what's nice is that it's run by Ebenezer system. What's nice about that is that the independent and the assisted living are all in the same area. So if you move into independent living and you need assisted living, you don't have to move from your apartment. You just acquire the services that you would need for assisted living. So that's a wonderful feature instead of having to move people specifically. They have spaces where they have books. Some books are from the residents, and some come from the Hennepin County or Carver County libraries. They have a beauty shop and a dining room. Meals are included, too. You can choose to do one meal a day, two meals a day, or three meals a day, so there are lots of options. They have activities that are lined up, like when my mother-in-law first moved in, there was a carnival, so they had baby goats and they had games, and a lot of it was more catered to the kids in the daycare. But then they had the food set up, so they had popcorn, cheese curds, and lemonade. And they have a birthday party for people during that month. So it feels like a vibrant community.

My mother-in-law was at Riley Crossing Senior Living. It was a beautiful setting and the staff was very good. Her apartment was spacious. It was clean, updated, and bright. The cleanliness was excellent. I had lunch there and it was also excellent. They have a beauty salon, a music room, and many activities. They have on-site medical care/nurse practitioners and nurses. Because my mother-in-law got ill so quickly, everything escalated and the cost ended up being much higher than we anticipated.

Riley Crossing Senior Living would be the only place that would consider my brother that has a trach. After we did the tour there, we were very impressed with their whole program. They have a good fitness room, music, and a chapel. He would be staying in a one-bedroom that has its own washer and dryer and its own furnace. Each unit has its own heating to regulate. I believe it's their smaller one-bedroom and it's 658 square feet with a living room and a small deck for seating outside. It's a very nice place. We talked to several residents there and they bragged about living there. They have a daycare attached to the facility. So, there are little children around there all the time and I think that's very enlightening for older people that are living in an assisted living place. They would come and put on programs for them. The children come and visit with the residents and I think that was another great thing. Plus, I think that helps retain good employees if there's a daycare right attached to bring your children with you to work.
