I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister is at Church of Christ Care Center and I wouldn't say it's been perfect, but it's OK. Sometimes we had to talk to staff about certain issues that we were having. My sister's in a room now where the air conditioning unit doesn't work sufficiently and she has a fan. Another thing is that when she moved over here, she could not walk, and right now, because the facility had had an outbreak of COVID, my sister contracted that and her health has declined since then. We moved her out of the assisted living part and it was also recommended by the social worker that she should not be in assisted living because they were not sufficient enough to care for her needs. Right now we're just taking it day by day with her and the facility has improved some. The hospice team that we're working with checks on her regularly. They say they do activities. I don't see any of them doing too much, but watching T.V. while some of them sit out in the hallway. Most are in their own rooms watching T.V. because each person has a television in their room. I'm not there every day, but when we first toured the place, the coordinator showed us an area where they either had a common meal or did physical therapy/puzzles and stuff like that. They have an area where they can go outside and sit in the sun with little chairs around and everything for them to sit. The facility is laid out pretty well.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father in law is currently a resident in the assisted living building. The staff is very caring, the minister enthusiastically attends to the residents' spiritual needs, & the talented chef serves delicious meals. I also have a few friends who reside in the independent senior housing who love living in this community.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm in the Church of Christ Care Center. There's a lot of single small apartments. They're not huge, but they're ample. They have a little refrigerator, and that's about it. I had to bring in everything else I had. They have a few cabinets and one closet, so they need more closet space definitely. The people that work here are very nice and very friendly. They keep your medications, which didn't go very well for me today. They forgot to give me my high blood pressure medication yesterday, so I suffered all night. Other than that, you just have to stay on top of them. They could improve on the way they cook. Sometimes you get things that are not cooked right. The meat would be dry or the vegetables would still be hard. They could do a little more spicing it up, too, and make it taste a little better. Other than that, it's OK. They have an activity room. You can go in there and watch TV. They have a little dining area where you can eat. They have quite a bit of things to do. They do a lot of puzzles, painting, drawing, and sing-alongs. Activities are very good. The value for money is OK. To me, it's high, but for them it's not for this type of place.

I visited this facility

I was at Church of Christ Care Center today. It actually looks very good, but it looks like it's just organized because they have three different facilities in one place. The staff, Corey was very nice, he was also very knowledgeable as far as explaining, very patient, and he explained everything. I was able to look through the window, and the room looked spacious and clean.

I give this facility 0 stars. I wish we wouldn’t have taken my dad to this facility for rehab after a hip procedure. The following examples are a “few” of the reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this place. 1-Average 18 minutes to answer a call light- many times over 30 minutes. Often my dad couldn’t wait that long to get help to use the restroom and soiled himself while waiting. 2-He had 3 falls in the 20 days he was admitted. 3-1 fall was a “controlled fall” out of a shower chair-where he was “lowered to the floor”. Note this fall was out of a shower chair at 230am! Yes, 230am. Rehab is about healing, and getting stronger. Seems counter productive to shower someone in the middle of the night. 4-They said he was restless at night and kept trying to get out of bed. I don’t doubt this, as it sometimes happens at home. Their solution was to get him out of bed and sit him in a wheelchair where he sat all night and then all day. After 3 nights he was so sleep deprived and confused and couldn’t flow directions in therapy, didn’t recognize his family and just stared off into space (something we have not seen before). 5- The final straw for us to finally decide to take him home was due his last fall. He was in the hallway and fell out of a wheelchair while being supervised (remember thier solution to keep him safe in the middle of the night was to get him out of bed and sit him at the nurses station). 7-There is no communication between the PT/OT staff and the medical staff. As patients get stronger they should be encouraged to stand and do more during transfers to the bed and restroom. My dad’s mobility care was the same from day one to discharge. He went to 6 30-45 minute sessions of PT/OT per week and then sat in a chair or laid in bed the rest of the day. 8-I did complain, and I did talk to management/supervisors about my concern. They were always kind and wanted the best for my dad. It just never seemed to improve. 9-To add insult to injury he left missing many of his clothing (his laundry was done by family). 10- These are just the highlights. Please, please find another facility if you care about your loved one.

I would not recommend even taking my dog here. This place is a joke. Rude Staff, and unsanitary conditions. I took my grandmother here after having a fall for rehab after being discharged from the hospital because I thought it was a great facility. We opted to take her out before her recommended rehab time because conditions were so bad, our breaking point was they told her she would be going to in house mass on Sunday which was staff wheeling her down in front of a television with other patients , then leaving them there parked in front of the T.V. for 7 Hrs. I Also had an incident with a staff member who was extremely rude when I asked her a question regarding my Grandmother's progress which turned into an altercation with her threatning me, which lead to being on suspension for a few days after upper management got involved. Stay away from this place if at all possible it is not a good place to take your loved ones too. I give it a -0 star rating.

I visited this facility

The staff here at Church of Christ Care Center was very nice. I had a little bit of a tour because I stopped in unexpectedly. They were friendly when they gave me the tour. It is a three-story building, and I don't think the residents left their floor if they didn't have to. There was a dining area on each floor. But the rooms are very small, and it is the most expensive. I can't tell them to make the rooms bigger. Obviously the memory patients don't need a lot of room, but for the amount of space, I guess they needed more care. Different floors meant different levels of care. They even said that even though the rooms were so small, they still have some residents share a unit. So all they had was a bed, a chair in there, and a shared shower. I just didn't like that.

Mom is now at Church of Christ and doing fine. This was mom's first choice. I like the location of the facility; it's very convenient. They staff seemed wonderful. Her room seemed to be new, bright, cheery, and clean. I know that they have activities for the residents like movies, ice cream social, and small crafts.
