I didnt like the experience at Merrivista, but I didn't have any choice. They advertise a nurse on duty, but the nurses do nothing except call your family, so they might as well not have anybody there. The staff is fine and they have meals if you want them. Some are good, and some are lousy. They don't invest their money in getting any kind of a professional chef, so they take a good piece of meat and ruin it. Their elevators are kind of outdated too.

when i first came here i thought it was very charming, each floor had it's own living room area which was decorated and each entrance area had their own personal pictures and decor . Downstairs was a case that was filled with home made jewelery and little trinkets . The people that reside there have a choice to cook their own food or choose from a menu which in my opinion is like cafeteria school food tasteless and boring. The staff i never see they i believe are hiding or are in the building across the street which is a nursing home part of the assisted living. The area is bland i think outside needs a little more life to it flowers plant a sitting area with shade and grass. They have cement area with broken chairs. The facility offers games night like bingo and stuff like that., also they have day trips and three day trips to some pretty great places like north carolina, the beach , casinos..as for the amenities they each have cute apartment with a small kitchen ..a bath that is easy for the elder to get in and out of by a door .pretty cool..all and all its adecent place but needs a bit of work .I just wish they had staff in the building to greet you , and so you can ask questions of the place . I also remember that my fAmily member was in her kitchen when her ceiling caved in with water because someone from up stairs pipes burst. It took a day for them to fix the hole but made my family member unsafe and nervous it will happen again. she is over it now thank goodness. but she loves it here and loves her neighbors.

The facility is clean and well kept. They have a nice oustide area for both relaxing and gardening which is nice for seniors that would like to tend a garden. There is also access to a deck on the roof which is well maintained. The facility has an onsite hair salon which also is great for folks with limited mobility or limited resources to being driven to outside salon.I have only seen the studio size room but it is a decent size and allows for sufficient room for sleeping and sitting area. The onsite staff is responsive. They appear to have a genuine interest in the well being of the residents. The common areas are set up to support building relationships between residents which is so important for the well being of seniors. The dining room serves nicely prepared meals which could be served in room if resident prefers. Feedback based on six months experience.
