I am staying at Potomac Valley Nursing & Wellness for rehab. One of the things I like best about living here is the staff's attitude. The staff is very good, and they do not talk down to people. There are plenty of people who have worked here for at least ten years and don't leave. The food is very good, and the kitchen is clean. Everything is clean. They sweep my room every day and do my laundry. There are so many amenities here. They have what they call a Life Enrichment Program, where they include things like bingo, music, and entertainment. They hire outside entertainment sometimes. They do little art projects, mind quizzes, and informational sessions where they talk about the history of the country or different countries in their cultures. The property is maintained beautifully. The landscaping is manicured to perfection. They have gleaming floors in the lobby and large, open spaces.

Extremely poor communication from staff to families. Once Medicare stops covering patient will be discharged. Dishonest assessment of ADLs done specifically to get rid of patients with complex dementia. Would not help my father get dressed. Left him I'm street clothes for days.

I was at Potomac Valley for 4 weeks and i truly enjoyed every minute. I was given the best care and all the staff were just amazing. I received all the services i needed and was able to return home. I would truly recommend Potomac Valley to anyone who needs rehab services. I will miss all the staff dearly

My father was a patient at Potomac Valley for over 3 weeks. He received excellent care. The nursing staff was so nice and kind. The rehabilitation department helped get my father back on his feet to go home.

I would not recommend this facility for short or long term care. My relative was here for two weeks and it turned out to be the worst possible place for any kind of recovery or rehab. And that had nothing to do with the ongoing renovations at the time. There is a strong sense of nonchalance from the administration about patients' wellbeing that shows in most nurses' attitude. On average, they check in on patients only at meal times or when they are required to take vitals, as opposed to when they are called for help. Pressing the help button is pretty much useless. This means a Lot of patients would lie waiting to be cleaned or taken to a bathroom for hours in case they soil themselves. As a result, the entire place has an overpowering stench of feces as soon as you go past the nicely kept reception. They apparently don't seem to realize this because there is zero awareness or effort to sanitize. PT is substandard and way too short, not to mention no exercise at all on weekends. The physical therapist was aloof and uninterested in my relative's progress. That is important to note because in any kind of therapy, motivation and personal interaction skills play a great role. This lady had none. A few of the nursing aides are warm and helpful, but that is clearly because they feel sorry for the patients and not due to any pressure from the management. We visited our relative every day and were saddened to see residents wandering around the halls in their wheelchairs alone and lost, and the rest piled up in the main hall to sit quietly in front of the TV. No smiles, no engagement, it was always eerie to witness the depressed atmosphere. Please do not place any loves ones here. This is not a rehab place -- it is a place seniors are expected to come to die, not heal.

I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to Potomac Valley for the wonderful care my mother received. My siblings and I encountered a number of challenges when my mother developed a severe infection that first hospitalized her for over a week, and then led her – and us – to Potomac Valley. From our first meeting with the Admissions staff, we felt the care, concern and experience being provided to us. As we moved through the process, members of the nursing, therapy, and care staff were patient, kind, and helpful. And I cannot say enough about the social worker assigned to us and her management of very difficult situations, decisions, and conversations with our mother. While we have since moved along the care continuum to an assisted living facility for mom, I believe in the importance of acknowledging the contributions made by so many wonderful health care providers at Potomac Valley. I highly recommend Potomac Valley.

My dad has severe dementia and is bipolar we were in a tight bind from the hospital and needed a nursing home with some sort of psych program. One of the social workers recommended Potomac Valley because they have a psych program. They were fast and very helpful when it came to getting dad in there. They have a good psych program but I do wish he seen the psych doctor a little more. All in all , I am glad we found this place, they were able to balance my dad out and he was able to go back and live with my brother.

My mother was at this facility multiple times. Each and every time she was here she received the best care. Every staff member treated my mother as if she was their own mother. The rehab staff was excellent. There was always an activity going on somewhere in the building. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone who needs short term or long term care.

Not sure where to start but our experience with Potomac Valley was terrible. Dad was there for rehab. The nursing and CNA staff, most of which are ESL, were rude and uncaring toward the patience's. The PT staff did very little to help dad recover and did not even fit him properly for a wheel chair. The food was fair at best and serving sizes especially small, dad loss 6 lbs. during his stay. We couldn't wait to get him out of there and back to his assisted living. Their marketing is good but there service is not - visit and talk to the residences before you send a love one there!!!

Horrible experience. My mother passed away there in 2015. She was scheduled to be released in a week from rehab after a hospital stay. Nobody could tell me how she died. I got a call to come, they gave me 10 minutes and said that she had to be removed, as needed the space. I was still in shock when I arranged the funeral home to hurry over. I will never forget this treatment and simply a horrible experience.. I would hope that you take this to heart and do not set a foot in the place with a loved one.

We also had difficulties with the doctor not speaking directly with us. Unacceptable. I would not recommend this place.

I would NOT recommend this facility at all. We had a loved one in this facility for months that they promised to care for and help address their special needs. They insisted they had the skills but the resident only got worse. The staff would not allow us to speak with the attending doctor who was only talking to facility staff. They insisted they would address the needs. They would not even address regular care such as clipping of fingernails. We had to point this out to the staff. When we decided to move on to another facility, they resisted and did not help, they told us other facilities would not take him. In fact, other facilities did take him and were able to do in a few short weeks what PV could not do in months, at our cost. They insisted on additional aids at our expense because they could not treat the resident adequately. They did not attend properly to submission on insurance claims which we needed to correct and manage. Look elsewhere if you caress your loved ones care.

My brother spent at least 10 or 13 days at Potomac Valley, and he regretted it thoroughly. The rooms were like hospital rooms -- small and old, antiquated. We attended a few activities, but I was not happy with the treatment unfortunately. The food was well-balanced; I have to give them that. The portions were good, and it was healthy and nutritious. The dining area was less than desirable. My brother was place in a hallway with a lot of dementia patients who screamed a lot, and he was very sensitive to noise having had a brain aneurysm. Not a lot of accommodations were made to make him comfortable.

The worst rehab in the Maryland . After the experience of village at Rockville the Potomac valley is the place I will not send my dog . This place has the worst care and whole place is do dirty and sticks . It is a pathetic place and authority should close this facility . My husband fell in front of the nurse and the second day was hit by the Ivy machines . Most horrible place to take your loved one !

Short of staff.: Especially in the evening and weekend resident can wait in the room for ever after push nurse call button. Also some staff can be very rude. Communication also a problem. The different shift worker or different frequently not aware of new changes of patient's need. ie Resident medication dosage changed, the nurse was not aware, the medication envelop still provide the old dosage. Lack of team work Worker refuse to provide the simple request by the resident, resident has to wait until the designate nurse available to help the resident Website stated "Rehabilitative services are available six days per week" Rehabilitative worker maybe in the office but will not provide service, only therapist to provide the service. Some therapist work only part time and do not have enough time to provide services to residents. Have good entertaining programs.

Awful! My mom is currently on oxygen and uses a walker. They expected her to push the oxygen machine and use the walker while going to the bathroom. Impossible!!. I noticed seniors sitting in the dining room sleeping while staff talked among themselves ignoring their care. My mom wasn't even on the right amount of oxygen. She is usually on 6 liters and they had her on 2!!! The staff mentioned to me that they hadn't have a chance to review her records. Seriously don't you read the patients records before you transport them to your facility. Don't be fooled by the high star rating.

Potomac Valley offer the level of care that my mother needed. She's been there for about two months now. The staff seems to be very caring and they seem to be able to handle Alzheimer's patients in a way that they need to be. They do offer activities for the residents. We like the way that they're handling the patients.

Stay away, A third-world lack of communication, miscommunication center, run pretty much by a dominant culture. This brings misunderstanding, misrepresentation in speech received and given. IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TO TALK WITH NURSES, AIDES, ESPECIALLY, MISCOMMUNICATION AND LACK OF ASSISTANCE FROM HEAD OF NURSING. AIDES DISTANT AND DISRESPECTFUL, MAIN FOCUS OF NURSING STAFF IS PILL PREP AND ADMINISTERING, THEY HAVE NO TIME FOR SPECIAL ATTENTION IF NEEDED, IF IT'S TIME FOR THE AIDES TO LEAVE, THEY IGNORE NEEDS FOR BATHROOM ETC, TO THE NEXT SHIFT. THAT'S ONLY AN ATOM OF WHAT'S NOT RIGHT. IF THE FAMILY MEMBER HAS ALZHEIMERS, YOU MIGHT RECONSIDER, A FOCUS OF THEIRS. AIDES HAVE TWO JOBS AND COME IN TIRED, IRRITABLE, DISRESPECTFUL, UNAPPROACHABLE, AND POSSIBLY CARING ILLNESSES AT TIMES FROM PREVIOUS JOBS AT OTHER FACILITIES. My review is not only poor, but "HORRENDOUS"
