My husband, Mr.Love, was a patient at Hillhaven in September and part of October 2024. I am proud of the workers at Sterling Hillhaven Health Care Center. The faculty and staff are hard workers and they give lots of attention to their jobs and patients. The rooms are very clean, the food is good (if you have allergies or don’t eat a pork) inform the nurses and staff. The nurses and staff are very friendly and I had fun laughing with them! In September, Hillhaven had a “Carnival Day” I entertained the patients outside with a magic show! It was a happy day for the patients. In October, my husband and I attended an Oktober fest on the 2nd floor, I was impressed with the activities! Way to go activity coordinators! I will return to Hillhaven to entertain with another magic show and as a Storyteller using props. The social worker and manager of nursing are great people, you can go to their office and talk with them anytime! Hillhaven in Adelphi Md is a great place for your love ones! They are wonderful people, take a tour and get to know Hillhaven. I am Mrs.Love written in October 2024.

I liked the atmosphere and the activities that Hill Haven Assisted Living, Nursing & Rehab Center offered. They were having a pajama day and we were told we could wear our pajamas (which we chose not to). They were very friendly, cheerful, and engaging. When we entered the building, people were sitting outside at tables with umbrellas. They had a courtyard and they had visitors so there were people outside as we entered the building.

My mother has moved into Hillhaven Assisted Living, Nursing & Rehab Center. The move-in process was very good. Communication was very good. Her room is great, very clean, and very large. She said the food is very good. So far, everything seems OK. There's a little bit of an adjustment period, but it happens everywhere. I don't have any complaints at this point. The facility is always clean, very maintained, well-decorated, and very comfortable. They have a big rehab facility, are very modern, and look very new.

My father will be moving into Hillhaven Assisted Living, Nursing & Rehab Center. They had the best physical therapy space. They had a one-bedroom studio. It was good, they were clean. The staff was all nice and knowledgeable. They were good across the board.

I have YET to get a straight answer about anything over the past 5 months. All I get is "call back later when someone else is here". SIMPLE questions. Like where did this package from Amazon go? What is your email address to the nurse station? "I don't have one". Really? It is THE most disorganized place. No one gives a straight answer and everyone wants to pass the buck. I don't know how many times I have heard different staff who have different understandings of whatever their current Covid policy is at the time. Then when asked about it, they say, "Oh well, you should probably ask.........." Unbelievable. So dissatisfied. See if you can find ANYWHERE on the website who the staff is or a way to contact them directly. There is only a general number and well I have already mentioned what happens in that case....read above. The only place to email here is based on the relationship to the FUTURE resident. Hard to understand how they stay in business. It can't be for long given the way they operate.

My husband is in Hillhaven Nursing & Rehab Center. The caregiving by the staff has been excellent. He's been there for 30 days now. It's just really outstanding. They are very responsive and very courteous. They're responsive all the time. It's like a very, very fast response and very positive. I just can't even find enough things to say nice about them. They're just so helpful and responsive. Initially they did have activities to keep him busy and activity, but then he tested Covid positive; after that, they had to take him out of activities. I haven't been able to see their facilities, but I think he's happy. I've been in the reception area, but I can't go beyond that because of the Covid restrictions. I could see their gym, and their gym is lovely. It's very convenient to where I live. It's like 20 minutes away. It's reasonably close to the hospital.

My husband was in this facility for rehab post a knee replacement in April 2021. He was stared at by the staff as they brought him in. He was totally uncomfortable. Should of known to leave then. It went totally downhill from there. The next day my husband got severe diarrhea to the pointvof losing 20 pounds in 3 days. They never treated him until I called to complain. The rooms were not cleaned every day. He was given wrong medication numerous times. The list goes on and on. I even reported it to the State of MD. They did nothing! Don't put your loved one here!

Unfortunately we need to add to the bad reviews of Hill Haven. My father entered Hill Haven’s subacute rehab program after doing very well in hospital based acute rehab. After 5 weeks, during which we were unable to see him due to Covid (understandable) and during which we had very little communication (not acceptable), he came out much weaker and disoriented. He was only home for 4 hours before going into the emergency room with a urinary tract infection that likely contributed to his weakness and disorientation. We have no idea how long he had the infection and how much it contributed to his dismal state. The worse part of Hill Haven was the lack of information regarding his care and goals. We asked to observe remotely or for a videotape of his OT/PT to no avail. If we had, we may have recognized that something was going on affecting his performance. They wanted us to request any written information through medical records and pay for it even though my mother and I have both medical power of attorney and legal power of attorney. From a family and social interaction point of view, they were only able to facilitate ONE video call in five weeks. I tried to reach the director multiple times. He tried to return only one of my calls and I was never able to connect with him. I can not in good conscience recommend Hill Haven and I certainly would not use it for any family of mine ever again.

I was at Hillhaven for rehab. I would give them a good rating. They did what they do very well, and the residents liked it well enough considering it's not home. They had several buildings there, and they had one area for independent living, which seemed OK. They did exactly what they were supposed to do and did it well. The staff was fine. I had no complaints. The only thing I didn't like was they had a complicated shower schedule. You had to go to the shower at certain times, but I wasn't there long enough for it to be a big pain. The food was OK and they were very flexible. You could take it to your room if you wanted to or they could bring it to your room. They had activities fairly often.

My mother-in-law stayed at Hillhaven for rehab for a little over two weeks. Our experience was good. The staff was caring and the PT was very thorough. Overall, the care was good. The rooms were fine. She was in a single room, and it was very adequate. She found the food bland. They didn't have Mexican food on the menu, and it wasn't to her taste. The PT director was very good. The occupational therapy was good as well. They had game times and gatherings to watch a certain program and to interact a couple of times a day, which she enjoyed.

My mother was at Hillhaven in both skilled nursing and, later, assisted living. We found the staff to be very attentive and caring. I was personally impressed by how each of the staff members felt empowered to help you with your need - even if it wasn't their specific area of work. I have worked in multiple hospitals and have visited many nursing facilities, Hillhaven is one of the best!

Hillhaven is as close to “home” as you will find anyplace! We were blessed to find this facility for my husband who suffered from multiple conditions. He received the best of care from physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and health aids. The staff accommodated his every need: from serving a variety of delicious and nutritious foods, to daily activities that were engaging, and included essential services such as laundry, cutting hair and shaving. Needless to say my husband had a remarkable recovery. He is home, functioning well and enjoying his grandchildren. Hillhaven is an exceptional facility!

I live in Hillhaven. We get three meals a day, and there are only about 138 beds. The staff is exceptionally great and always professional. There aren't any roaches, rats, or mice, it's spic and span clean, so there's never a smell either. They really work to keep it up. My biggest problem is that I normally eat one meal a day, and they insist that I eat three meals. That's just too much food for me; I'm trying not to get fat. They have a recreational facility for assisted living people. I was in the gym for physical therapy.

I visited Hillhaven. The staff was friendly, and the dining area was clean. The grounds were very well-kept. The residents were playing bingo when I was there. It was in a residential neighborhood, and it was a very nice facility.
