A friend sent us to Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel to take a look at how nice the facility was. It was way too much money and too much everything for what my husband and I were looking for at the time, but she said she wanted us to see all of the amenities and facilities and how nice the staff was, and all of that was true. It's just we didn't ask for or need assisted living. The rooms were very nice. They had physical therapy. It's very clean and very nice.

We have decided on Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel for mom. I like the way the community is organized, having the three different communities. They have assisted living, Bridges, and then the memory care, and mom is gonna be at the Bridges. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. We just had brief conversations with the staff and looking at how they interact with the residents, they seem to know how to calm them down and just interact with them in a good way. When one of the residents didn't want to eat, they just came and were compassionate with them to help them understand that they needed to eat. The rooms were nice and spacious. She's going to be going into a one-bedroom. It's very well organized and spacious. One of the things that we liked about it is it looks like an apartment, not like a room or a nursing home. We had a little treat with fruit and cheese and stuff on it and it was good. They have everything. We went there during one of the happy hours, and the residents were sitting there eating with their drinks and listening to the music. They have crafts there, exercise, a physical therapy room, and a beauty salon. One of the reasons why we picked it is because there's plenty of things for them to engage my mother so that she could keep her brain stimulated.

Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel looked fabulous. It's a fairly new building. It was almost more like a real apartment or hotel because they had different floors and you would go down to a hall. It wasn't like your door would open up into a common area. There's a little more sense of privacy. It's pricy, but the amenities were fabulous. The residents seemed happy and engaging. The staff was friendly. They did not give us a meal, but they showed us sample meals. They cook everything there onsite. They gave us cookies when we were there, and those were very good. They have doctors, podiatrists, and a beauty salon. Those were some of those things I hadn't thought about, but it makes it easy if they have doctors. They have physical therapy and speech therapy that you can have at the facilities. They have little activity clubs. They go around and ask the residents what they're interested in and depending on what their interests are, they try to accommodate those. It was fabulous; I would move in there. The one thing that I liked is that for each resident (if they have certain dietary restrictions), the cook will prepare the meals to meet their dietary needs; that is a concern for my mother. I haven't really tasted the food. They are allowed to have a sleepover guest, and you can also go there to have meals with somebody that's in there. You pay a nominal fee to cover the cost (which I think they said was $5); for this area, it's extremely reasonable. Since we live close by, that would be fabulous for me or her grandchildren to just go up there and have a meal with her.

Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel was nice, but the cost is too high. The staff was very nice. The facility was very pretty, it's new, and it looks very nice. The rooms were small, because they're memory care, they're not very big, but they were nice. The layout was very nice. You can find your way around there as it's not big. It's very close to a shopping center, it's back off of the main road, and there are woods behind, so it looks nice.

Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel was very good. It seemed very clean and offered a lot. We toured both the independent living and the assisted living, but it also had a memory care. The only reason we didn't pick them was basically because of geography. My parents wanted to be closer to the Severna Park-Glen Burnie area. They didn't want to be all the way down in Waugh Chapel, and they wanted to be closer to family. The staff was very good, and the facilities were, too. They just gave me a bag of cookies, but I never tasted their food, and we saw their two-room suite.
