I have been in Heritage Harbour for six years now. It's a very nice place to live in. It's rated as one of the top 25 independent living facilities in America, and I don't need to say more than that. We got a tremendous lodge, we got indoor swimming pool, exercise rooms, and oversized Olympic outdoor pool. We have a pier on the south river, we got a 9-hole golf course, and nice restaurants. They cut my grass, they plow the snow; they do everything. We got everything we need.

The lodge is wonderful with many activities and amenities. You must buy or rent townhomes or individual homes. It is very much like owning your own home. You must pay for someone to care for your lawn and the outside of your building. Also, you must pay for someone to shovel your walkway and plow your driveway. Other than the lodge and one restaurant with limited hours with the same meals served on certain days weekly, it is like living in your own home elsewhere. You have to pay a monthly association fee and extra fees for golf, etc. Had I known the cost and responsibility of the upkeep of the outside of the home, including roofs, gutters, painting, garden, mulch, etc. I would not have moved here at the age of 70 years old. I moved from out of state and had a limited time to find a place in MD. to live closer to my daughter due to medical conditions of both my husband and I. We previously owned a townhouse out of state that took care of all of the outside work, so was surprised that we had to do this all out of pocket . The neighbors are very nice, but the costs of living here adds up.

We have already bought a place in Heritage Harbour. We are going to move there either the end of August or the beginning of September. Heritage Harbour is a lovely place. It looks like a really nice living area. It looks very comfortable and fresh. It is very clean. The people seem very nice. I don't feel like I'm living in a nursing home. I have my privacy and I'm comfortable. From what I have seen, they got everything and more. We also have seen nice amenities there. My family lives close to this community. It is about 15 minutes away from where my sister lives and about 45 minutes from where my nephew lives. The unit that we bought is being painted now. It was completely set up for a handicapped person. It has railings all around the entire room, plus a step-in shower. It is all on one level with hardwood floors and everything has been updated. It is just perfect. We're very happy with what we found. It was on the market for one day and we happened to find it. It was exactly what we're looking for. We were very lucky to have found it. We're very excited about moving there.
