I went to McCready Manor two years ago to visit my aunt. It's not that old, but it's nice. It is run really well. There are one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments in it. They got a lady that does things with the seniors whenever they want like they go on little trips and things like that. My aunt liked it there. The staff were very nice. They're very amiable and the food was very good.

McCready Manor Assisted Living was more of an institution or a hospital-looking setting than the other place I toured. The rooms looked more like hospital rooms, and they had nice 1-bedroom apartments. The staff who gave the tour was knowledgeable and nice. They had people that were doing something with the piano, they had bingo going on in one room, and they had arts and crafts in another room. So they had stuff going on for the residents.

Mccready Manor is within my price range, and it has apartments with full kitchens. It has a nursing home right there if my relative ever needs to go to that. It has apartments for independent living. I really like the place. It provides transportation which is important, and it is less expensive compared to the other places I've seen.

My mother-in-law and several church family members are residents at this facility. It is a wonderful and economical facility with caring and professional staff. My mother-in-law's monthly package fee is $2,100-the two most important features of this package for us is it provides two meals a day and her medication is monitored. Other features included in the package are two loads of laundry a week, 90 minutes of housekeeping a week, assistance with bathing if needed. They have numerous activites planned(Saturday had a KY Derby party with a decorated hat contest with prizes) for their residents, and the community is very active in providing a helping hand-from local churches providing services every Sunday, to individuals volunteering their time in many areas-ceramics classes each week, free manicures each week, to performances. They have a van available with a driver to take residents to the local Walmart, Krogers, etc. They have "outings" scheduled at least twice a month - be it a tourist attraction, a play, a restaurant - these are at an extra cost - whatever the admission fee or meal charge. The staff is very competent and communicates with family members when attention is warranted. Our mother-in-law has been there for over two months, and she has just blossomed in this environment--this facility has been a Godsend.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and seem to take decent care of the residents. Every nurse I encountered seemed to genuinely care for the residents. The place has the typical nursing home smell which at time can be extremely overpowering. The location is very convenient for visiting family and friends as it is located very close to Interstate 75. The amenities of the facility are very basic and nondescript. There is nothing particular special or interesting about the facility. Outside, there is a small garden which can be nice occasionally. Frequently, residents are left unattended which at times seemed to be a bit dangerous, as they were prone to roaming the halls. Overall, I felt like it was a decent facility and my grandmother and grandfather were treated fairly well. While I never sampled the food provided, I can tell you that it smelled like it would taste absolutely horrible.
