Council Oaks was a senior living area, but it combined with some of skilled nursing. It was a very small building. It was like a house almost. It was very homey, which was nice, but everything was close together. Like the hallways were wide so that it would be hard to travel a wheelchair by themselves. The feel of this place was skilled nursing facility. I did see the event room, but it was like a conference room, and they offered a lot of crafty activities for the people to do; however, besides those, I didn't see any other activities. They toured me through, and like I said, it's a very small place. The rooms were very small. They only have half bath in a room, and they have a community shower, which I didn't like. The staff members were friendly, kind, and helpful to the people there. They were having lunch when I went there, I ate with them, and their food was very good. They're home-cooked food. It was just that the community was so small, and it didn't offer a lot.

My mom has lived at Council Oaks of Nicholasville since 2010. It is a beautiful place with staff far better than most facilities. The staff loves the residents and I had NEVER seen any unkind or inappropriate act there. The availability of special care for senior citizens with Alzheimer's and Dementia in this establishment is noteworthy due to the number of skilled professional nurses in staff who are present on duty for 24-hours.There are a lot of activities for the residents on daily bass including exercise programs, a salon and physical therapy too. The community comes in several times a week and provides musical entertainment of some type for the residents. The food is of a reasonable quality. They have a rotating menu and an a la carte section that stays constant. It was nothing incredible, but it gave enough variety to work. Also, the facility allows pets, only that the pets need to be less than 20 pounds. Location of the facility is another good thing for the residents. Everything, from grocery stores, and library to special care hospital that one would need is within 5-10 minutes walking distance. This is the best assisted living facility!
