We chose Heritage Woods of Newburgh for my mother-in-law because the staff is permanent. They're not hired by temporary services. They all knew everybody and the friendliness of everybody there was amazing, even people in the hallways. We know our mother-in-law would talk to everybody. She's a talker and we feel she would fit perfectly there. Once she's there, they said she won't ever get moved to another place. She'll just stay there and that was good. Also, we liked the room, and the room layout, and we're going to get her one of those necklace pendants, even though they have a remote in the rooms. We just thought it was the friendliest group of people that knew everybody and everybody knows everybody. It was a good fit for her. Not only that, she's 5 minutes away from two of her relatives, so that's good, too. People can just stop in and visit her. We like their exercise room with a few small weights because she uses them at home. I think she would go down there and do that. They had some other group activities or some exercise classes. We've seen the menus and how they change and the people pick the meals. The rooms were up-to-date and very comfortable to move around in and even showers and bathing. They had somebody on every floor 24/7.

The Heritage Woods of Newburgh looked like a hotel on the inside. Everything was clean. Everybody was friendly. It just looked so inviting. The maintenance man was the one that gave us the first walkthrough, and he was really great. His wife happened to be the director, who was the head of everything. They were both very nice, respectful, and helpful. They have like an open restaurant, and you can see them preparing food and stuff like that. It smelled good, and everybody was happy. They go on outings. They have game nights, a full movie theater with a popcorn machine, a pool table, a library, a computer room, bingo twice a week, and all these other activities that would keep them busy all week long.
