My sister moved into The Waters of Martinsville three weeks ago. They seem to care about her as an individual, so I like that. So far, I've been relatively happy. My sister is blind and although she can't see, it could use some sprucing up, just updates. I'm well pleased with the cleanliness and structure of the building. But it could use some updates. The activities that I've seen so far are playing bingo and playing cards. And they had a TV with some sports on. The community has a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

My mom was at The Waters of Martinsville. They were very short on staff, and their director of nursing was quitting in the same month I visited. The food was not very good at all. They would take a long time to respond when you put your light on, and there weren't that many activities to keep the people busy. Whenever you ask for something to be done it wouldn't get done. The staff was nice. I didn't have a problem with the staff. It is just they didn't implement any things to be done in the right way. With regard to the building itself, it's very old. The rooms were not good at all. My mom shared a bathroom between two rooms and there were two people in each room, so there were four people using a half bath. It was a sink and a toilet. It was very, very small. They had some activities though.

My dad was transferred to the Waters of Martinsville when he entered hospice care. The staff was amazing. Not only knowledgeable, but also friendly and kind. My mother and I felt very at home when visiting my dad. The staff stayed in communication with us and kept us updated on my Dad's condition when we took breaks away from the facility. After my Dad passed, my Mom and I talked about how much we missed the staff at the Waters of Martinsville. The facility was cleaned and smelled good.

Friends who had family members at The Waters of Martinsville recommended the place to me. It was clean, smelled good, and was well lit. They allowed the residents to smoke outside, if they are smokers. It was cheaper than some of the other places, which played a part in my decision. All in all, it just looked like something that my mom will be comfortable with. They had a place for rehabilitation, a room for smoking, a place for birthday celebrations, and a bus that will take them out to different restaurants or shopping. There were doctors and nurses in the facility, and TV and Wi-Fi. They serve three meals a day.

My mother stayed at The Waters, a nursing home in Martinsville, Indiana for a few months. Although it wasn't terrible, it was nevertheless a depressing place. The staff were friendly enough, but I do not believe there were enough of them. There was always a significant lag when assistance was needed. My mother did not make progress there. She rarely left her room and her communication skills dwindled to nonexistance. I do not believe her hygiene was properly encouraged. Her teeth yellowed at an alarming rate, there was always body and breath odor, and I do not know if anyone helped her to eat. Overall, I was very unimpressed, but I supposed it could have been worse. Upon visiting their website at the beginning of this questionnaire, I was dismayed to find that there are no actual pictures of the facility, only stock photos.
