My mom was in Wyndmoor of Castleton. It was clean. She felt secure there. They just kept raising the rent every year. They kept it well maintained. The staff was friendly. She ate in the restaurant, but she did her own laundry and everything else. They had activities, but she was no social butterfly. They had activities in the lobby, like crossword puzzles. There also was activities in other rooms. There was a theater and they played games. They were pretty active. The food was bland, and the helpings were small.

When I toured Wyndmoor of Castleton, the first thing is that it smelled bad, smelled terrible. The menu showed that there were not many choices. They had a soup and salad category. There was never any salad listed, it was always a soup. The staff was okay. The inhabitants did not seem happy there. You would say hi, and you might get a hi back or not. One thing about the independent living, they had a nice apartment, but you could not get to the outside without calling the front desk and having a door unlocked. That's not what I call independent living. I did not have the meal, but I go back to the smell. The menu was skimpy. No fresh fruit and vegetables, no salads, soups only. They had definite times of the day when you would go to eat. It wasn't restaurant style. The dining area was spacious, and it was very dark in there. The first thing that was brought up when I met the person who gave me the tour was if I was going to use Medicaid. I thought that was kind of strange. The rooms that I was looking at were in poor repair. They did not have a beauty salon. They had limited room for exercise equipment. They had transportation, and it seemed like two days a week between certain hours. They suggest you get your doctor's appointments and stuff, but it seems like if you had to go to a doctor and wait very long, the two hours timeframe would be gone.

We went to the Wyndmoor of Castleton today. I liked it, I think my mother liked it. Laurie, the assistant director, was a very, very lovely lady. She was very thorough, gave us the tour. She introduced us to other residents there, and everybody that we met seemed to be really, really lovely people and happy. The staff seemed very, very nice, very informative, and they were very good. We saw a studio, this one lady was in her studio, and she allowed us to come in. Her studio was lovely, very, very nice. They showed us two other studios, one was being renovated, it looked nice, the other one had just been emptied. One of them didn't have any carpet, which is OK, we can always get throw rugs, and the other one, they're putting carpet down. They didn't have it down at the time, but they're putting it down. So they're getting two apartments ready for someone. They were very nice. We saw the exercise room and a physical therapy room. They're very well equipped. They have a beauty salon there, it looks really nice, and a nice laundry room.

My friend is in Wyndmoor of Castleton; she's doing well there, and she's where she needs to be. It's exceptionally good, and I think it's a very good community. They work hard to keep their tenants happy, and they are very reputable from what I have heard. They're a very good place. I'm pleased with them. I'm really glad to see her living there and happy. They help her on a regular basis with her meals and with housekeeping. They have crafts and other things she can do. She basically stays there, but she can be signed out if somebody picks her up and then brings her back. Every time she eats she shows me her food, and she says it's very good. She said she's pleased with them and she likes it. The facility is beautiful; I love it there and love the way they have it set up. They always have activities. They do so much for you, and they work really hard.

My mother was at Brookdale Castleton. She was in the assisted living. It was great. Their entryway into the building was the lobby area, which was set up with all kinds of couches and chairs. The residents would come down in the morning and sit down in the lobby right there in the entryway. They talked, they slept, and they did activities. I went there for many days, and there were activities going on. My mother was in a studio apartment, but they also had one- and two-bedroom apartments. They had a room upstairs that had a big TV screen where they showed movies, a card room downstairs, and all kinds of tables in the theater room. They had parties, they played bingo, and they had art classes. They had a beauty salon, a nice sized cafeteria, and nice outdoor areas. There was raised garden beds in the back. My mom had a garden there when she first went, which was really nice. They had all kinds of activities. On Friday they go out to lunch. I can't say enough about Brookdale, it was really good, and it had the best compared to other places.

Brookdale Castleton was the first place we visited. I would give their staff members the highest rating of all the places we visited. They not only took a great deal of time to be with us, but they answered a lot of our questions. They even provided information that we weren't even thinking about, just in terms of how the different systems work and how the continuity of care can be attended to when the community has more than one care level available. The room they showed us had recently been renovated. It was empty, but it definitely had new carpet and fixtures. You can tell that they maintain their facility quite well. I saw a schedule of activities when I visited. They have transportation, and they try to get residents out into the community as much as possible.

The people at Brookdale Castleton were very hospitable and they even had a welcome sign. They were very nice, very welcoming, very helpful in giving all the information. The tour was complete, but they didnt accept Medicaid. We looked at a 1-bedroom. They had a dining area, and outdoor gardening area, activities that they would normally organize, and they had a gym and common shared places.

We visited Brookdale, and it was really nice, but we didn't think it had everything dad needs. The staff was friendly, we did not really see many residents, but they did not have the memory care we wanted.

We really enjoyed the visit to Brookdale. The food was good, the people were nice, and everything was well handled. We were there twice, and both times it was pleasant. However, we couldn’t afford it.

My mother is in Brookdale. We are very pleased overall with the place. It seems to meet her needs completely and has an excellent location. Everything works out quite well. We find the food to be good and well prepared. They have a very nice dining room. The staff appears to be very caring and very interested in the people that stay there. They provide a lot of opportunities for activities. It is an older facility, but in general, it is in good condition, clean, and well maintained. We chose it because of the location and the price; there was a 30% special discount available at the time.

Brookdale Castleton was wonderful. The staff who assisted me was very nice. The atmosphere at this facility was very homey and very friendly. The rooms are very nice and very spacious with a little kitchenette area. I would absolutely recommend this facility. It is a very nice and friendly place.

Cost-wise, Brookdale Castleton seemed to be the best place I could find. It is very nice, the staff is good, and the food is pretty good. I have a two-bedroom apartment, and my only complaint is that the bathroom is small. Other than that, it is fine.

Brookdale Castleton (Berkshire of Castleton) was one where my mother-in-law walked in and said this feels like home, and it is where she is. It was perfect for her. We are very happy -- she's very happy.

They are very helpful and very friendly at the Berkshire of Castleton. The apartments that they have are very nice and very adequate for what everybody needs. I think the only thing negative about it are the doorways which are a little small in my opinion compared to some of the newer facilities out there. The food is very good, and the dining is very nice. It is like a restaurant. They have a menu, and they bring the food to the residents. They have activities like bingo and trivia. They also have groups of people come in for entertainment, and they have trips. What impressed me the most about this facility is probably the friendliness and how there are always people around to talk to since the residents do not just stay in their apartments. My mom is very social, so that was an important factor.

My mom has been in Berkshire of Castleton for about three months now. I chose the facility due mainly to the cost and the food. The food is very good in that facility. The staff is taking good care of my mom. The rooms are spacious. So far the security is good.

I did like the location though we were trying to find some place temporary. We would like the fact that Berkshire of Castleton has two meals a day. I know my mother is 94 and doesn’t eat three meals a day or snacks along with the meals so that was a real plus because why pay for something she isn't going to eat. They seemed to have a nice place and have a nice atmosphere; whenever we went there the residents were out, they seemed to be pleasant enjoying themselves, so that’s kind of why we like that. We liked the room because I believe the kitchen was separate. Although my mother doesn’t cook much, it was important I think mentally to have some place where she had a separate kitchen, and not just a wall.

My mom is all set at Berkshire. We chose this because it had everything I needed. It had the right size apartment at the time, and it was in our price range. The staff is very good. The food is really good. The dining area is really nice.

Berkshire Castleton was definitely more of an assisted living and felt more like a hospital. But it did not seem like a bad place. The people that were living there seemed happy, but it was definitely more of hospital type of facility. It did not fit our needs. The quality of facility itself, they could use some fresh paint. We never got to see their independent living, because they didn't have any availability in their independent living facility.

Berkshire was very nice. The place was clean and very nice. The administrator was excellent. She was very friendly. I feel that I would get back with her. I like everything about this facility. Everybody, from the administration to the staff, they were just warm and open hearted. They even had a barbeque that they invited me to. It was a very good experience.

My brother is now staying in Berkshire and he has been there for two months now. The room that he has is smaller than what he used to have, but let's face it, when you moved into a residential setting like that, downsizing is a necessity. Food is good. Their dining room is very nice. My brother was surprised of the number of activities that were there and he quickly got involved in them. He plays cards and joins in singing. They bring in pianists and singers and they have programs like that. He has told me about three or four different programs that he enjoyed since moving in this facility. Ever since he has been there, they did make some improvements. They have made their sidewalk wider and put in handicapped ramp. This was in the back where they have parking space for their clients. My brother has motorized wheelchair that he drives out to his vehicle and so these improvements would prove beneficial for him.

It was very nice and large facility. The staff was nice and informative. The rooms and the dining room were spacious. But it was too far to where I wanted my mom to be.

My wife's uncle was at Berkshire of Castleton. At first, he was in the independent living but then, he moved to the assisted living section. The assisted living part of the facility was small which was good. There were about 21 suites so the care they got was very good. Nurses were on duty round the clock. He could eat in the dining area of the independent living since he had friends there or in the assisted living dining area also. There were field trips and movies also. He made a lot of friends and he was very happy. We were pleased with the outcome.

Upon entering the Berkshire of Castleton, I was greeted by sliding doors and welcoming and informative staff. The staff at the front desk knew the residents by name and room number. The residents seem to have an active community at the facility. There were games going on in a game room, and residents were milling around in a room filled with couches and entertainment. The hallways have been remodeled recently and are kept clear of trash and dirt. The facility appeared very clean and the residents I encountered all seemed to be in good spirits. The residents all receive papers about what food will be offered at each meal. Whenever I have eaten at the facility, I have always enjoyed the food and the options made available to me. There is a shuttle that takes residents to area businesses to run errands each week, and even a church service on Sunday mornings for residents. Overall the Berkshire of Castleton seemed to me to be a very well-run assisted living facility, and one I would recommend to others.

My uncle is living in Berkshire of Castleton for 10 months now. I have had the pleasure of visiting the facility on several different occasions, and I have seen each time, a consistent level of high quality service. Residents are permitted to receive nursing or other healthcare services from an outside home health agency, hospice agency, or private duty nurse. The apartments are good-sized and have large bedrooms. The apartments have kitchenettes, not full kitchens. The facility provides the meals which are of high quality. The residents can bring their meals back to their room if they'd like. During one visit, I was waiting in one of the common rooms for a staff member, and a group of the ladies had gathered to knit clothing for their pets, and they all seemed in such high spirits, sitting there, happily chatting away, while their pets were nestled in beside them. I was impressed by how the facility treats the residents with respect and acknowledges their needs and desires. Berkshire of Castleton has proved itself to be spot on in quality of service.
