My sister has moved to Summit Place West. Everybody there is very friendly. The people who accommodated me were very caring and helpful. Even the residents were helpful. The place is quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. It's a bit isolated, but it's nice and clean. She's living on their independent living side. She's in a house that looks like a little cottage. It's nice, but I think it also costs way too much.

My niece moved to Summit Place West. It's a small facility. I chose it for a couple of reasons. It's within eight minutes from my home and they have a one-bedroom apartment. They have elevators for things that are happening on the upper floors. They have things for the residents to do. My niece is blind so that made it comfortable for me. The CNAs, the people who are helping, and the people in the cafeteria are very nice (overly nice sometimes). They'll come and get her and walk her back to the cafeteria even if I told them, "Hey, you need to let her find her way.". I enjoyed it. It's clean. Compared to some other places that we toured, this is definitely within her budget. The food is good. I've eaten with her a couple of times. She has pocket doors so she can close her bedroom off. There's a small living room, a stand-up shower, and a shower chair so she can keep her balance in there. The doorways are wide so she doesn't have a stove. I requested that because I don't want her trying to cook, but she has a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and a sink. I think it's great. The first time I went, they were doing s'mores out in the parking lot. They've had pizza parties. They had a lady that got married there. I think she's 80 something and they had a wedding there. They have birthday parties, crafts, and a salon. My niece can get her hair and nails done. They also have a 24-hour nurse. They have things for them to do and they keep them busy. There are 65 apartments. The ones we've looked at before had three floors and hundreds of apartments, but I wanted my niece to be somewhere where she could feel safe enough to be able to walk down to the lobby or walk to the cafeteria. They are also less than five grand a month, while most of the places we toured were six, seven, and above.

We have found SUMMIT PLACE WEST for my father. The place is wonderful, and the staff seems caring and compassionate about the situation. It's a great place. The apartment is quite roomy considering the amount they want for rent; it's surprisingly inexpensive for the size of the unit. I was there the other night and had dinner with him, and it was an excellent dinner. There's a central game room where they have card games, board games, computers, and Internet access. There is an exercise area and a small, indoor pool, and it seemed like an excellent facility. Technically it's assisted living, but all they do is check on him a couple of times a week at my request. It seems like a nice, well-funded, and well-cared-for location.

Only Summit Place West has actually let me come into their facility, but they don't have an opening now. I love the administrator. It's a small facility, they don't advertise a great deal, and they gave me a lift. The administrator has a medical degree, I think she's an RN, but she's very kind. The place was clean and they're dog friendly, which is something I'm looking at. I saw their menu and it looks very good, they have a lot of choices. The outdoor grounds were nice for people and all the services were there that were needed. My husband will have his own place. Their studio apartments were certainly a nice size, and regular apartments were a little bigger. I know someone whose mother is there, she has dementia, and seems very happy, and that was encouraging. The best part about it is that they're a smaller facility and have about 60 residents, so that was a plus. The biggest reason is that when I asked how they allow people in. They only let one person in, they met me at the door, I had to wear a mask, took my temperature, and asked me questions. She was very kind and very knowledgeable.
