My tour of Silver Birch of Hammond was a pretty nice experience. It was a very nice place. It was clean and fresh. It didn't smell like a nursing home. When you go through the front doors there's a sitting area, and then the hallway where all the common areas were. They had music there and an area where you can get your hair done. They went on field trips and they took you to your doctors' appointment or to the store. There was a nurse on staff, and the people were very nice.

We toured the assisted living at Silver Birch of Hammond. The place was nice. It wasn't extravagant, but the clientele is a mix of different cultures. The facility was clean. They have 1-bedrooms and studios. The 1-bedrooms are a decent size for one person that doesn't have a whole lot. It'll be enough room for my mother-in-law. They have activities; however because of COVID, they don't now. They do outings once a month. They have a transportation company that will take them to doctor's appointments if they need or grocery shopping. We're pleased with the place as far as what they have to offer. If my mother-in-law decides she wants to fill out an application, they said that we can come for a tasting of their food. They have a new chef. The woman who was the tour person said it's delicious food. The dining area we just saw from through the window because it was not open at that time because it was COVID. There are only two chairs to a table, usually it's four. They can either eat in there or they can ask for carry out and take it to their little apartment. It looked like it was clean. It was decent. They have a little gathering area when you go into the lobby, and it looks like they have coffee and water and little snacks there. The staff that gave the tour was pretty good.
