"Bellarose was a very large place. They kept the memory care separate from the area of the building. The facility was very beautiful, but it didn't have a fresh smell. It smelled more like a hospital. The memory care room setup was OK. The person that did the tour was dedicated, and she seemed to like what she was doing. She greeted a couple of residents and talked to them. She was very informative and I liked her a lot."

"I toured Autumn Park. I chose it because it's close to my son. The lady that we spoke with was very nice and very helpful. They said that they serve one meal a day. The facility is old, and that's why they're revamping it. They had a big dining room, which is where you walk in when you go there. The only bad thing about them is that they only have two-bedroom apartments in each building, and I got the last one in that building."

"My mother was in Covenant Living of Bixby. She was there for a while and they told us that she needed more care. We had already started looking for a place to move her to, and she got sick. They were only assisted living and they did a very poor job of monitoring her health. She had edema. I even had a doctor write a prescription out for extra diuretics so that when her legs swelled up they would give her extra diuretics, but she would always end up in the hospital because they didn't monitor her very well. She got skin infections because her legs would swell up so much that her skin would break, and she got infections in her sores. As far as the care that she got, it wasn't very good. She liked it there a lot, but then the pandemic happened where she was quarantined and isolated, she couldn't see friends, she couldn't see her family, and my sister died of a brain tumor, and that was very hard on her. The facility is very good, the rooms are really nice, it's a fairly new place, it's just the nursing care. Her medications were always a problem. She did not like to participate in a lot of the activities, but five days a week they would have card games, they would have fashion shows, ice cream socials, 4th of July parties, and Christmas parties. She liked the people there, she liked the facility, and she really liked her apartment. She had made friends there, she really thrived there until the pandemic."

"We chose this facility for our Mom because it has a friendly staff and it’s homey. Easy for her to get around. "

"I was at Cedarhurst. It used to be Tapestry. It was wonderful. The staff was excellent. It was a beautiful community. It was well laid-out. There were lots of amenities."

"My mother will be moving into Senior Star at Woodland Terrace. The main reason that we moved there was it had the biggest living space, and also she knows two people that live there that went to her church. It's really clean and really nice. They had a special going on with one-bedrooms, which was our choice. I stopped by there one day last week because my mom got a table and chairs that she wanted to take, and I wanted to make sure that there'd be a place for them. They were still working on the apartment. Everybody was so friendly and nice. It was really nice. There's quite a few people, and the chef even came in and brought us some cookies to take home with us. The dining area was nice. I think they have different times for people to come down, and they have seating already assigned because of COVID and everything. We didn't try any of the other food, but her friend said that it was really good. They have a courtyard in the middle of a complex, and it's very nice, well-kept, and maintained. There were some benches and stuff out front if you want to go out there and sit in the shade or something. The chocolate chip cookies were really good."

"I visited Montereau. They had very good food, and the dining area was restaurant-style. The building was fairly new and seemed well constructed. The atmosphere was excellent. It's located on a fairly large campus with some houses where people lived. The staff put in a lot of work on me. They had a full schedule of activities and had everything there, but it’s a very expensive place. "

"Country Club of Woodland Hills kind of ruined all the others. It was fantastic -- the cottage, the garage, the rooms, the meals, the kitchen, the pool -- and it had a big backyard and a little patio. It had all kinds of activities going on. Everyone that we had contact with was just really nice. The wait staff in the eating area was absolutely great. It was a fabulous place. They were very helpful. We had a wonderful lunch. They had a shuttle thing, and they would take you from the cottages to the main area for eating and stuff like that. It was just great. I couldn’t ask for anything else. "

"Woodland Manor Apartment Homes is a 55+. It was not quite what I was looking for, but it was nice. They only showed us one apartment, and it wouldn't accommodate some of my things. It's just right in town and in a commercial area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They don't have meals. It's just apartments."

"I have been living here at Glenpool Ridge for 2 months already. When I first saw it, I just fell in love with the place. It's brand new, and it's just a friendly place. There are more women than there are men here, and we have a lot of activities. It has everything I want. My apartment is brand new. Nobody has ever lived in it, and it is beautiful. I have a dishwasher, a stove, and a refrigerator and I have a hook-up for a washer and dryer when I get one. We prepare our own meals. It's just like home. Everybody is so friendly and nice. I enjoy it here. I've just encountered the maintenance man and the lady in the office, and they're both very helpful. When you need something done, the maintenance man is right there and gets it done. We have movie nights, game nights, and other games anytime you want to play. And everybody is always fixing dinner for anybody who wants to show up. We just come visit their floor and they fix whatever they cooked and you're invited to eat. We have Bible study on Sundays. You can always find something to do here. We have a shuttle bus on Wednesdays, which takes us into stores and they're working on taking us to doctor's appointments. They have laundry service on every floor if you don't have a washer and dryer yet. Around the building is a concrete and smooth walking area. "

"We toured Zarrow Pointe. They had a little fee upfront, but it was manageable. They had a health center there, right there on the facility. They also had apartments and small homes that we did not look at. The apartments were too small for me. I think the largest one was eleven hundred square feet, which is nice, but I just had too much I don't wanna get rid of. Right, connected to them was a swimming pool or recreation type thing, and the fee wasn't very much. When you look at it, you think it belongs to them because it's right, almost connected to them, and that was a nice thing. They were one of those places that wanted to give you a monthly food allowance. I think everyone could improve on that. I mean, I don't want an allowance, I want you to prepare me three meals a day, and cookies for the afternoon. We didn't have much interaction with the staff folks really and truly well, there didn't seem to be that much interaction that day, and I think the problem was that they were all full up. You had to get on a waiting list for about three years."

"I toured the 5400 South Apartments in Tulsa, and it was fine. I like the place very much. The community center was not open, so I did not see that. It is a very nice place and very well maintained. The staff were very friendly. The one who accompanied me was very helpful."

"The price at Southern Hills Retirement Community is $1500 and all of my needs will be met. All of the bills are paid, I get 3 meals a day 7 days a week, and they will provide transportation to doctors and shopping if needed. My main concern was finding socialization. Cable and internet would be included in my rent and a lot of the places that I called and inquired about do not include them. A lot of them don't even include 3 meals a day, 7 days a week and this place does. They also provide housekeeping and linen service. They change the sheets on the bed and they have a laundry room that is provided for you for free. They have activities, which is important to me because I'm a people person. They also have a big bus and they can go on outings together. The facilities are all recently updated. They are all painted and have new carpets everywhere. My apartment is not completed yet but everything is there. They said it would be 30 days before I could move in. It's all updated because they tore everything down and rebuilt it on the inside. The place has a big living area with a fireplace that has tables and chairs where they sit around, play games, and talk. It's all carpeted and it has a big door that goes right directly to the outside where they have barbecues and a koi pond. The interior is just beautiful. They even have a basement with a pool table and a bar. I did the tour on Thursday, with Julie, the manager. Yesterday my son went with me so he could see the apartment because he gave the final approval and is my family. He was impressed with it."

"It has only been two weeks since my husband moved to The Villages at Southern Hills. It doesn't smell. It's out of the ordinary. The staff are lovely. People actually smile. Everybody seems very caring. As I left this afternoon in their main hall, they had a gentleman on the grand piano that was playing, which was quite lovely. I'm as content as I can possibly be. "
