The complex provides more than just an apartment space to live in; it also includes an activity center and a dining area. Multi-service programs are also offered for both the residents and the community. Self-Help for the Elderly provides seniors with high quality housing and services that ensure their safety without taking away their independence. Self-Help Seniors live independently, but are able to enjoy the company of their peers and the senior care and home care assistance provided. The atmosphere around the senior housing is filled with joy and laughter, as the residents engage in games and activities and celebrate holidays together. The Lady Shaw Senior Housing began in 1990. Each apartment unit is fully equipped with a private kitchen and bathroom. Amenities include: wheelchair access, lounge, laundry facilities, and a garage. The complex’s Senior Center Program, which provides meals and activities, is open to the senior residents as well as seniors in the community. Rental rates of the Lady Shaw Senior housing will not exceed thirty percent of the household’s monthly income. Rent includes water and garbage disposal services, residents pay for electricity, energy, cable and telephone bills separately.
