We visited the Heritage Woods of DeKalb assisted living and the only problem with it is that it is way out there with nothing around you. The place was out in the middle of nowhere and that scared my mom. It's older than the one that we saw in another city, and I felt like it looked older. The upkeep and cleanliness were fine though. It was clean but the rooms were small. The person that was supposed to assist us did not show up. The person who did assist us was very nice but she was a nurse and so she can't answer our questions about the facility as being on Medicaid and things like that so that didn't help us. The menu looked fine and the dining room was clean. They had a beauty salon and an area where the people could play cards. They also have a bus that would take them to Wal-Mart.

Heritage Woods of Dekalb is pretty good, but they dont have a registered nurse to administer insulin. The facility was large and it looked like they had activities. You can also go outside and walk. It's a large area. The staff is pretty good.

Heritage Woods of DeKalb is very new at only four years old and very nice. However, it’s beyond my budget. They have some nursing staff, but doesn't have as much assisted living as independent. I would say it’s independent living. Everything is nice and new so the property looks super. The rooms are a little on the small side. I think they have 1-bedrooms and studios. The manager was not super friendly, but she wasn’t unhappy, either. It was a kind of lukewarm reception. I just peeked my nose in at the dining room where they serve the means, and it looked very nice. People came up to me and said I would love it there because it’s a very nice, warm place. They also have an activity center.

The Heritage Woods complex is very nice. It has a 1-bedroom, and it is totally separate from their living room. It’s a little bit larger, and they have more of a kitchen area. They are more structured. They have done a lot of upgrades in the apartments. The one thing that we really liked was that each apartment has its own furnace and air conditioner combined. They have their furnace settings just like we do in our home so each unit can adjust their own settings.

Heritage Woods was a new facility. The physical structure was very nice. They had studio and one-bedroom apartments, which were well maintained and clean. The staff was very friendly. The food was very good. I liked that they were medicaid eligible. They had activities and tours for the residents.

Heritage woods is wonderful. My mom and dad have lived there for almost 4 years. The food is good, the staff is friendly and treat my parents like they are their own family.

My Mother-in-law and Father-in-law moved to this facility over three years ago. Grandpa passed in March, but Grandma still lives in her one bedroom apartment. She loves having an active life. Grandma and Grandpa were able to go to the store, doctors appointments, and when Grandpa was in the nursing home, Grandma could visit him everyday,if she liked. When Grandma went to a rehab center for several weeks, she was welcomed home and the staff made her transition easy. Heritage staff are wonderful. their activities are fun and thoughtful. The food is good, the facility is beautiful. Mom's happy and so are her family members.

I have been to a few of Heritage Woods facilities in the past and Heritage Woods of Dekalb is no exception. These facilities have top notch staff who are very caring and who actually listen to what their clients need and want. The food they serve is really good and health. The rooms do seem small but are very clean and manageable for those living there. They do all sorts of things with the residents and engage them in a productive and conducive way to keep their brains sharp. I would highly recommend.
