Southern Haven was just what the doctor ordered, so to speak. Top notch full circle. They made the transition easier and greeted not only my guy, but me with open arms. Thank you Southern Haven, and that seems shallow compared to the constant care for my guy, our guy. T ~

My mom lived there from June 2016 through her passing on May 1. The staff was wonderful to my mom! They took great care of her. We liked the fact that the place was small. Food was great! My Mom enjoyed her stay there and the interaction with the staff. I recommend this as a great place for your relatives as they need extra care.

My Mom was a resident at Southern Haven for about a year, she enjoyed her stay there. I liked the fact that it wasn’t a really big home so they could give more personal care with only thirteen beds. When it came her time to depart this life the CNA’S were so very caring and helped us make it thru this very hard time. All thanks to the staff and owners Jamie and Dana.

I feel so good about my Mom being there. The staff is incredible and very attentive and so accommodating. The staff is very responsive and answers my questions on a very timely basis. Having my Mom stay there is one of the best decisions my family made. I live 800 miles from there and I am at peace with my decision. My Mom loves to sing with the groups that come in just for that purpose. There is also a weekly church group that comes in. I also like the fact that the facility is small and the scenery that the residents can see is very soothing with farm land, cows and a pond/lake out back.

The owner Sophie T and her staff are truly a Angels sent from Heaven. The care and love my father received before his passing was simply amazing. If they have space available why would you have your loved one stay anywhere else. Period

This facility was great to my father . I had to remove my father from another facility in Dalton due to neglect. They took my father and gave him back his smile. He wasn't there very long but they took great care of him while he was in there care. Staff was kind and gentle. only regret I didn't put him in there first.

Southern Haven was a blessing to our family from the beginning of my mothers time there, to the end of her life. Sophie went out of her way to visit, access and pray with my mom and me before we ever made the decision to move there. She helped me to see clearly that this was where God wanted her to be for the remainder of her life. She was only there 4 months but it was the most comforting and stress free time for me knowing she was in great hands. Her staff is amazing and they have been with her from the beginning. That tells you a lot about a place you are considering for your parent. Southern Haven provides for a variety of special needs residents. The atmosphere is different from anywhere else you would go. When you first walk in the door, you realize it is special because it looks good, feels good, smells good and everyone there is friendly and pleasant including the staff and other residents. That did not change from the first day we walked in until the last day she was there. I will continue to recommend Southern Haven to anyone who has a loved one in need of special care. Thank you again Southern Haven for taking care of my mom! Pam

I would highly recommend Southern Haven for care for your elderly family member. My mother spent her final year of life at Southern Haven and was provided a warm and loving environment. They treated her as family and cared for all her personal needs as an individual- providing her walks, puzzles, songs, and one on one attention and care. She felt loved by the staff and was well cared for. As her Dementia progressed they were patient and loving, even when she was difficult. They always spoke positively about her and gave her joy and laughter on a daily basis. They provided for her needs as they increased and referred her to additional services to support her. This was a most difficult decision, for my mother to go into a supported living home. Southern Haven made that transition a positive one for her and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing additional care for their parent or loved ones.

I volunteered at Southern Haven this past summer. Every time I came in, the home was clean, and all of the staff were welcoming and friendly. They played games with the residents to help engage memory and keep them active. At mealtimes, residents receive excellent home-cooked meals (and they are quite good because I've tried some myself). The staff encourage residents to do as much on their own as possible, but they always provide aid for the residents with more difficulty eating. From what I've seen, Southern Haven is a loving home where the staff members are like family to the people under their care.

My mother is a resident of Southern Haven Assisted Care facility and after touring numerous facilities we decided that Southern haven was the best place for my mom. Southern Haven has the advantage of being a smaller facility, which has a more intimate setting, which can be less confusing to a resident who has Alzheimer's disease. The care givers show lots of love and kindness to the residents there. The facility looks very new and is kept clean. The facility is set in a peaceful location overlooking a lake and fields in the distance. This residence also has the advantage of being a very secure unit, with locked doors and alarms, which is an advantage for Alzheimer's patients who wander.

My mother-in-law was moved into Southern Haven after about a two month stay in a larger nursing home. I was very pleased when she was moved, I have never liked nursing homes with the bad smell and 50 or so patients and very few care givers. When we got to Southern Haven it was totally different no smell unless it was the very good home made food around lunch or dinner. There are less than 15 patients and several care givers that do a wonderful job with each patient. I know the owner has went to meetings and classes to learn more about the diseases some of the patients have, that she did not know much about. The owner and care givers truly seem to care about the patients and family members and keep us well informed.

Southern Haven has been the perfect place for my 98-year-old mother to live. The owner, Sophie, has created a safe, comfortable, and compassionate environment for the residents. Southern Haven does not feel like a facility...it feels like home, with a wonderful family atmosphere. The staff is caring, responsive, and affectionate. They treat the residents with dignity, and safety is of the utmost importance. Communication with the resident's family is prompt when a need arises. I am most grateful to all of the caregivers at Southern Haven for taking such good care of my mom!

After being care giver for both my parents for 3 years, the time had come that they need more care than I could give. We started looking into assisted living facilities around around the area and decided that Southern Haven would be best suited for their needs. Southern Haven has exceeded our expectations and provided a family type atmosphere to them as well as professional care. The staff is very patient and understanding to their needs. Thank you very much Southern Haven and staff! -Mike Johnson

The staff here is great especially Crystal, however the owner of the assisted living facility isn't qualified nor seems to have any training to be over a facility that has patients with Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease. & Doesn't have any personal skills to work with the families with these problems. Would NOT recommend this place because of her to anyone.

Southern Haven is a beautiful small assisted living home for mental health patients in Dalton, Ga. The staff are friendly country people who make you feel right at home when you first walk in. I toured the facility and had lunch there with the owner, the food was superb! All the residents seem to be happy, full of life, and they immediately strike up a conversation with you. The amenities are not the best around but there is still plenty to do and there are scheduled outings to restaurants and shopping centers. One of the best things about the facility was their wonderful views of the countryside, out of the front window you can see large pastureland and a view of the mountains, and the backyard has a walkway that leads down to a nice sized fishing pond. It was amazing to find such a great country style home so close to the hospital and local doctor offices.
