We chose Dahlonega Assisted Living and Memory Care for my mom because of its proximity to my house. The facility was nice and clean. It seemed like there was adequate staffing. The rooms were a nice size. The staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. The dining area was very nice and clean. There were a lot of menu options. If the residents don't want to eat what's on the menu, they can fix things. They have a big television room and a game room. They have outings.

My brother is in Dahlonega Assisted Living and Memory Care. They have no senior leadership there, just the person starts and then quits. They've had extremely high turnover. The food service is awful. They don't listen. They have a committee that meets to give feedback and all that, but they don't listen to them at all. It's a beautiful, three-year-old facility, and it is just breathtaking, but there is no management. Sometimes, they don't even have a nurse. When you're needing help, they just don't have any. It used to be owned by an individual, now it's owned by a conglomerate. They either don't care or they don't know what's going on. My brother is in assisted living with an added service of having his meds distributed to him. They had several fireplaces and nice meeting areas. It's hard to get them to take you anywhere if you have a doctors' appointment. Their transportation service would be a one or a zero. They offer three meals a day. Maybe every three to five or six months they'll have somebody come in and sing some songs for 20 minutes, that's it. I've tried through letters to get them to improve their management, and even have a manager.
