I toured Holbrook Acworth. I like the location. It is ideal for what we're looking for, and the services that are offered, even for independent living. The staff was very nice and professional. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The landscaping is very neat, and the buildings and units are well-maintained.

Everything about The Holbrook Acworth was pretty nice. The people were quite pleasant and quite professional. We felt that we would enjoy staying there and I'm sure that we would have been quite comfortable there. They're very courteous, very understanding, and very informative. They told us a lot. We were looking for individual cottages and the ones that we saw were all quite nice. The sizes were nice. The locations were nice, but we're not interested in an apartment. The Holbrook Acworth was a little older, but looked quite nice, quite clean, and very comfortable.

Holbrook Acworth was a lovely upscale community with lots of amenities. We had lunch there and the food was very good. The staff was professional and courteous, and the few residents that we encountered spoke highly of the place. The rooms were nicely appointed with all the modern conveniences and bathrooms that are good for seniors, because they had grab bars and easy walk-in showers. They have a saltwater pool that's designed more for exercise. At the time that I was visiting, there was a class and they were doing some water aerobics. It was a nice size pool and it looked very lovely. One of the things that I liked about the place was that their air throughout the place was ionized. It's filtered so the air they breathe is clean. There was also parking below the building. Then they had large screen TVs in some areas, an outside area with a firepit, a theater room where movies are shown or lectures are given, travel clubs where they organized travel for people that are able to go, walking trails, exercise classes, and a lot of other things to keep people busy.

The Holbrook Acworth was wonderful. The facility was excellent and it's easy to get around. The residents even have a bucket list, which I'm sure they had to pay for those (it's not part of the money they pay). They go around and get ideas of what the residents would like to do. The day before I came, they went skydiving and that certainly woke me up. They allow dogs, and there were several that I passed by in the doorway. I went to their art room where they have painting or crafts or various types of activities that folks can learn how to do, and woodworking. It was much more eye appealing and certainly much more appealing as far as activity was concerned. The residents were all over the place and very willing to meet you. It was a different atmosphere from the other place. You didn't feel like you were in a place just for old folks. The rooms were wonderful. It had a kitchen, a bedroom, a sitting area, and a den or a living room. They didn't have efficiencies. They start with one-bedrooms. They offer a brunch as part of your meal, but for the dinner, they give you a monthly stipend. You use the stipend to buy your dinners, but if you go over the stipend, you had to take some money out of your pocket. The dining room was very nice, and the menu was excellent. You felt like you were in a very nice restaurant in Atlanta.

We have chosen The Holbrook Acworth for my in-laws because it just fit them the best. I would rate them a 5 for their facilities, the accommodations that they have for them, and the place was immaculate. They had a swimming pool, an exercise room, a yoga room, hair salon, and a country store. They have a happy hour at 4:00 every day. They have a theater, popcorn, art studios, and lectures where they bring in people from the College For Continuing Education, so all of that was very important. They also have Bible study. They had just about everything that you could want. They have a chef, so it's a chef-prepared food.

We got to eat at The Holbrook of Acworth. They had a pizza oven right there, and I saw people getting pizza. That was just delightful. The people were great, very professional, and very accommodating. The rooms were very nice and they had high ceilings. They're very "old world," if you will. They had a pool, and they take people out to places and to doctors' appointments. I met a lot of people because they introduced me to other people who live there. I love that part. They're fantastic, empathetic, and very astute. Because I was in a state where I could hardly walk without sitting a lot, the staff was very good about that. She would say, "Do you need water?" It was that kind of treatment. It's fantastic. It's a beautiful place; it's very vintage looking, very elegant, and wonderful inside. They had entertainment. They had this guy playing the piano and singing. We went to see him and we loved it. He was playing old songs that I grew up with. We had to get on the bus when we went to the different locations. For some reason, they didn't have something I could step up on, so that was difficult for me because the stool wasn't there, but the staff found one later. That was the only problem I had at The Holbrook when I first got there.

The Holbrook Acworth was beautiful. It was luxurious, and it was like a five-star hotel. They furnish your meals. You get a voucher for $750 for each person a month, and you pay for your food like that. They have different eating areas, but they have a formal dining room. They have some kind of activity going on at the billiard's room. They got a lot of places to sit and chat, and they got a lot of outdoor areas, It is a little bit pricey. The lady that I went on the tour with was great. Her name was Donna. She showed me everything. It was a great tour. They would clean your apartment every week. From what I saw, it was spotless and immaculate.
