My mom has been at Ocala Oaks almost 1 year and I visit often. The staff turn-over is ridiculous! CNA's are not there long enough to know the patient. Several times call button has NOT been in reach of patient. It should not take someone 20 minutes to respond especially when I see CNA's/Nurses at the nurse station and not paying attention. Try calling any staff member. Good Luck. You get put into voice mail and if you are lucky, you will get a call back. My mom has fallen and I got 2 different anwers as to what happened. Ask a question and you get "I don't know". I have talked to the administrator and staff members about some my concerns but nothing happens. They do not relay information from one shift to the next. Food - My mom is on a pureed' diet and Kitchen staff has been told several times to include extra gravy with her meals. In 8 months, this has happened one time. Can not get any updates from physicians assistant. Does not return my messages. I recently had to have Hospice coming in and now I am getting the run around between Hospice and nursing home staff.

Mom moved into Ocala Oaks Rehabilitation Center. She's gonna go to rehab, but she's there for long-term care. We liked what we saw. We liked the way it was run. It's very secure, and there's a lot of constant interaction. Everybody there looks happy. The residents and the employees were extremely friendly when we were on the tour. They knew everybody by name and the residents greeted them like they were friends. And it was just a really warm atmosphere. They have a salon, and rehab, they have in-house dining in the dining room, and they have laundry. They do laundry, and they have skilled nursing. Mom says the food is good.

I found the facility both warm and inviting. The entrance is a bit business like but as you go further in it quickly becomes homier. The staff though sparse was very helpful and on constant attention for patient needs. I was very happy with what I saw. The rooms were warm and friendly, the dining hall was clean and well setup. The kitchen was very clean and seemed to be sanitary. All the staff seemed to be knowledgeable about the patients' diets and needs; they seemed very efficient in their completion of duties. The grounds are kept neat and tidy. There seems to be plenty for the residents to do to sty busy and entertained. All the nursing staff seemed very concerned that they be happy in their environments. All in all it was a pleasant experience, I would not have any qualms about having a loved one or family member at this nursing home.
