"I will be moving into Sumter Senior Living. I like the facility, plus the fact that it's close to where I live. I know the area, and it's near my friends. I've seen it a number of times now. They worked very well with me and accomplished what I wanted to do. I ate there a couple of times. I liked the fact that they have the open menu. One thing I like there is if I have a doctor's appointment, I don't have to go by their car or by their scheduled tours. They'll send a special car over for me. They have a salon, a gym, and a pool."

"We went to The Harrison of Wildwood and toured their memory care for my cousin's husband. It was very nice, very clean, and very welcoming. The people that greeted us were also very welcoming. It's a lovely place. They had just moved down. Somebody else had it as a memory care place before, and The Harrison has just moved into that location. The sales consultant was wonderful. She followed through with us and answered every question. She was very compassionate and listened to what my cousin's feelings were. The dining area looks good. We were in a memory care place, so the food was probably a little simpler than it would be in the other areas. They also don't have choices. They just put the food in front of the residents because it's memory care. Everything was neat, clean and tidy. The people serving them were also very friendly and happy. They're very helpful with the residents if they need to be. They were the most expensive. They were about $1,000 more than every other place we have visited."

"I like the surroundings at Lake Port Square. I like the way they presented themselves and I like the security. I am 80 and I have visited several places and they gave me a better feeling than any that I visited so far."

"I toured Regency Park Assisted Living & Memory Care, and I thought it was very good. It was light and bright. The patients, a lot of them were up in the community room. They were having karaoke, playing music, and participating. There were other residents that were in various places around. The rooms were nice. They're I guess adequate, they're not really large. You think of a hotel room, and that's about the size that they are, not a suite but a single hotel room. They also have double occupancy or single rooms, which are priced differently. I have a cat, so they do not take pets. They might make an exception if I took a single room and paid an extra $50 a month for the pet. It gets kind of pricey once you get a single room, and on top of that, you have your pet fee. The woman who gave me the tour was very friendly and outgoing, and I was just very impressed by her. The rooms are small, and if there are two people in the room, it's gonna be a little cramped. It wasn't a very nice place to walk around the facility. It's an undeveloped area and there are no houses around but there are offices, doctor's offices, business offices, and Massey, lawn care. Right now, I'm used to walking. I like to get outside. I like to walk or work outside and there's nothing like that. The facility is nice but the amenities like the outside were not that good. I think it's a converted hotel or motel. They don't have any screened-in porches or patios or anything like that. The rooms have been well taken care of and they're fixing and painting some additional rooms."

"I went to Brookdale Lake Tavares, and they have extremely small rooms. They have a tiny refrigerator. With their activities, I know they have bingo every day. They also have an elderly gentleman that comes in all the time that sings for about an hour and a half. "

"We visited Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle. We were trying to do just senior living, but they are a little different because their senior living is with assisted living, so everything blankets under that. Even when you are not in the assisted and you are just in the independent, they share a lot of the same facilities, and they are under one roof with each other a lot. We went there the same day we went to the other community. The staff brought us into the apartment on the bottom floor and I thought we were just going to have another tour like the one with the other facility, but because they're assisted, they could not let us tour and she could not tell me that until we got there. She brought us into the sliding closed door of that one apartment on the bottom floor. It was very nice, it was a model, and it was super good looking. But after we looked at that, I wanted to check the whole facility and she said we could not because of Covid. She didn't even tell me that before we got there. The lady was very nice and super professional, but I felt like they were more like salespeople, so it felt like I was just talking to a used car salesperson. I then felt like they're just not completely honest. The apartment that we saw was extremely nice, but it was professionally decorated, and it was supposed to be a representation of what they have available. However, we were not able to see anything other than that one apartment. It is not such a bad place; it looked very nice. I know that there were defects with the model, and the lady was kind of funny about it. There was an awning, and the awning was not in very good shape, and she said there were some comments about it and it was just a little off the beaten tracks."

"Brookdale was OK. The dining area seemed very nice, and the food was excellent. The rooms seemed adequate, but not as good as others I've seen. The amenities were fine. The staff seemed friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable."

"Waterman Village Retirement Community offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, home care, and go out and take care of people for rehab. It's a large facility with more than 350 beds. I think they do a great job. They are very nice, but the property is 20 years old, so some parts have aged a bit. It doesn't have a modern design, but it's a nice community that has absolutely everything. The staff is extremely competent. They have a separate pub/bistro where you can eat in a different atmosphere. They have three different places to eat and a snack bar. Their price is lower and more in line with what I had in mind. It would be nice if they could upgrade their property a bit because it's showing its age. "

"My mom moved into Camelot Chateau Assisted Living. The atmosphere is very friendly. The residents and whatnot seem to be very involved. The staff there is engaging and they have activities that are pretty engaging as well, something for everyone. She's getting to see the doctors promptly. They are taking care of her. She likes the food. It's just a nice place. She has plenty of room for just herself, and my mother enjoys it. It's an older facility. They take them weekly to Walmart. Sometimes they go to parks, or out to eat. The buses provide service for the residents there. They have a lot of card games and bingo, and outside like cornholes. And they could do exercises. I do think they have a room for religious activity, maybe meetings, things like that. So they keep everyone pretty much involved in things. There's not a lot of sitting around. They try to engage everyone to do things."

"Hawthorne Inn of Ocala was an average facility, but the interaction I saw between the residents was excellent. They were interactive. It's good. We were in the dining area because it was around lunchtime, and Dad got to see the interaction of people there and was concerned about the language barrier. Most of them were only English speaking, and he's a Spanish-speaking 99%, He wanted to make sure that the location had some bilingual people or people who spoke his language so he could interact with them properly. We visited the three types of room sizes. They were adequate. The room size, for our standards for one person, was kind of in the middle range. It wasn't that big. The hallways were clean. Everything's OK. We went through a library area where the residents got to pick books and read. They had somewhat of a selection. It wasn't a huge selection. Then we stepped outside. In our opinion, the outside was not an appropriate interaction for outdoor activities because there was none, other than a small porch with a couple of seatings. You just kind of sit there and maybe bask in the sun, and that's about it. My dad is more of the outdoorsy type that he would like interactions with a garden or growing tomatoes, or there are animals in the facilities, or just basically gazing and seeing what's going on in there to kind of keep his mind occupied. I personally liked the wood floors. That made it a nice, very homey, and warm feeling. The staff was friendly. All the spaces that I visited were clean. I got a peek at their activity room or craft room where they were doing some painting or something like that, and it was small because this looks like a smaller facility than the other one we visited. I saw their menu and they had a variation of items."
