I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

f there could be negative stars, that is what I would do. DO NOT let your loved one be sent here, it will be a great detriment to their health and well being. My grandfather was sent here for rehab from a hip break. His health declined drastically while in this facility. On numerous occasions my grandfather would call for the nurse and it would take very long periods of time before anyone came to check on him. I witnessed this myself. I was visiting him and was concerned about an IV that was in his arm that seemed to be infiltrated, so we pressed the nurse call button, 32 minutes passed with no nurse, so I went out in the hallway and flagged down someone, which happened to be a CNA, she came in and I told her my concern, her reply was “I will have the nurse come right in”, another 30 minutes passed with no nurse, so once again we pressed the call button and after 12 more minutes someone showed up. My grandfather ended up having to go to the emergency room yesterday. When the paramedics arrived, they questioned what meds he had been given. My grandfather had an altered mental state according to the paramedics and ER doctors. Once in the ambulance my grandfather was given Narcan because he had been overdosed. The odd thing about him having Oxycodone is that the nursing staff had been advised by us on at least 3 different occasions to not give him that because it creates digestive issues for him and that he did not need that strong of pain meds, however, they were still giving it against our wishes. This establishment is less than suitable to care for anyone. Nurses are next to nonexistent in patients rooms, and when asked what has been taking place with the patient, everyone seems to have a different answer, or their ultimate excuse is “I don’t know what’s going on, I have been off for the past couple of days”. I repeat DO NOT send your loved one here for care!!!!!

Grace Healthcare of Lake Wales was an older building, but it was the care that they gave to my mom that mattered to me. When she put her light on, there was somebody within a couple of minutes. When she needed something, they immediately tried to find someone who could help her. And they let us know about it. We ate there with her, and the food was very good; I would not mind eating it. As long as you did not have someone very picky, it was good food. She was doing marvelously, and was contented and happy there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Grace Healthcare was close to my home and someone recommended it to me. My brother stayed there and the place was very clean. There were more staff ratio with the residents and they seemed more caring. The residents seemed well taken cared of. The rooms were spacious and clean. They had different activities but my brother did not join in any. I would commend this place to others.

This facility was known as Dove Heatlhcare, before Grace Healthcare purchased the facility last year. From a distance, the facility appears small and overcrowded. The parking lot is too tightly packed, which is odd since the facility is nowhere near capacity. Grace would greatly benefit from an expansion of the parking lot, especially when ambulances are called to assist the facility in the event of an emergency. Getting in and out is very diffcult when this happens, because the facility is located on a busy intersection. Once inside, it is very easy to navigate in and around the facility. The staff appeared to be either totally professional or extremely rude. The dietary aides are the ones to avoid, if possible. There have been many occasions of "horseplay" on the job, such as blasting music, taking boxes of food off property, sitting around watching tv, etc. Although this job has the least qualifications, the facility should do a better job in choosing employees who do not abuse their positions. Overall, Grace is fairly clean and reasonably priced for the quality of services being received. I would recommend to look elsewhere in the area, such as the Life Care Center in Winter Haven.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Overall, I give Grace Healthcare an average rating. During the process of my grandmother recovering from a stroke, she stayed there for about two months. My cousin and I drove down from Ohio to see her for six days. Overall, I felt the staff was adequate and I had no problems with them. The faciltiy was in a good location right in the heart of Lake Wales. The facilities were actually very nice; with them being in a smaller town, I have to admit I was worried they would be subpar. The only problem I had with the facility was that I felt the doctors there over-medicated my grandmother. While I was there, my grandmother was medicated to the point that I thought she had lost her mind. She had never behaved the way I experienced while I was there. Within two weeks after she was released and off the medications she was on while in the home, she was mentally back to the same person that I had known all my life.
