I am a resident of Carmel Oaks. We get one meal a week and also a continental breakfast every morning. It's restaurant quality. It's the best I've had in any of the three places I've been in. We have a great chef. Everything is so clean here, and that's what caught my eye when I toured here. My son and I toured here three times, and each time we were impressed. It's kept up and there's a lot of activities that keep people active, and everybody is so friendly and treats you like family. The apartments are beautiful. This is the nicest apartment I've had since I moved out of my home and it feels like home where the others did not. The people here make you feel at home. The security here is good. I feel very comfortable and safe here. The staff is wonderful. They are very caring. They know how to treat elderly people. They don't make you feel like you're a burden. They treat you like family, and if there's anything you need, maintenance is here right away. You don't have to wait. It's just been wonderful, and I'm very happy I found this place. I wish I would have found it when I first moved out of my home. They have a lot of different card games, board games, puzzles, and movies, and they have a walking club, and a lunch group called the "Lunch Bunch". They go out every second Tuesday for lunch somewhere whoever wants to go, and potlucks. They have a women's social and a men's social every month, just always something to do, which is good. We need to keep our bodies moving. It's a little bit more than the other places I was at, but to me, you get what you paid for and this is worth it. It's not that much more than the first place I stayed at, which was very nice, but I wasn't happy there. As far as value goes, I don't think you can beat it. People have been here 12 years, 8 years, 7 years, and they said they would never think of living in any other place.

I visited Carmel Oaks. They have breakfast as part of your payment, and they have meals that you can buy. You don't have to buy into them and that's what we were looking for as an independent living (where we do our own cooking). They have underground parking, which we liked a lot. The tour we took was very professional. The people were very kind. They don't have a room open. They have to get permission from the residents to be able to show the kind of apartment that we wanted to see, and all the people we saw were very kind, very gracious, and very happy. It had a couple of things that the other place didn't have that were kinda neat. They gave us a sheet that had all the activities for the month. They have art classes, which my wife will be interested in. They had a TV room where they did virtual reality things. We saw the dining room and people were eating in there. We saw the food that was available to them, but we did not eat there.
