My husband moved into Blossom Valley Care Home. The kids and everybody wanted him to be infinitely close to them, and this is on a part of town where he was born and grew up. He's familiar with the area, and he's close for visitation. I can tell you from my viewpoint that they are absolutely wonderful. The manager is Maybelline and her husband is Ronnie. The place is clean. They are fed three meals. They have a cook on staff and a nurse. They're just very accommodating. They let me bring in a corkboard to put all of Jerry's pictures on it. At any time I say anything, Ronnie's like, "oh, yes, we could do this." He tried to plant some vegetables in the back to get my husband to help with the vegetablesand keep him active. They have different things, like Monday is Monday movie night. They also have a game night. They set us up a text group, and it includes me, Maybellene, and Ronney. Anything I ask, "Jerry's having trouble with it," they'll say, "okay, we'll go over and see if everything is fine. He's watching TV here." We keep in contact, and it's great. They're open to some of my husband's family. If they want to visit, they can call and come to an agreement. They're very safe during Covid. Nobody can go in the backyard and sit with him unless they had a shot. Everybody there had their shots. They're just very accommodating, very kind, and communicate with me. A lot of the staff doesn't speak English, and sometimes that's frustrating for my husband to communicate unless Ronnie and Maybelline are there. He has a good sense of humor so sometimes he sings, and he gets them to sing along with him. That's the only thing that's difficult for him; the communication sometimes when the managers are not there. I was there one day when she was making lunch. They have a beautiful, clean, modern kitchen. I have not heard my husband complain once. They let me bring over popsicles, bars, nuts and things for everybody to share. They think that's great. They're very accommodating that way. It's clean. In the backyard, they put in a small gazebo. They put it up against the fence and put two trees together. It's like a cozy little spot with a little table and chairs. Ronnie has built these wooden shelf type things for the backyard to put potted plants, and it's very serene and very comfortable. As for the activities, I don't think it gets followed through with game night all the time (depending on how busy they are). They watch a lot of TV, and they accept magazines or books or things like that. I thought the value was good compared to everywhere else. I like the hominess of it. I love Maybelline and Ronnie. It was comfortable, and it was close to home.
