Sonnet Hill Senior Living is a good place. Dad has been in the memory care for a week now. Price was a big factor as to why we chose it. It is within our price range. It is a smaller community, and it is new and clean. The people are very kind and helpful. They have very good meals. They offer activities to the residents, and dad has been able to participate in one or two of them.

Sonnet Hill Senior Living was delightful. It was my choice for my friend who's 98 years old. I took her and we went through a second tour, and they got her a wheelchair because she was having a very, very difficult time walking. They were very kind and they greeted us very warmly. I also had been there a couple of days before and after our tour. It was a very, very warm place and very accommodating. I liked them very much. I didn't meet too many of the staff because it was late in the day, but I enjoyed them very much. The gal took me on the tour and we sat down in the foyer. We chatted for about an hour and it was closing time, but she gave me all the time in the world and I frankly made friends with these people. I felt right at home with them, and I knew that my friend would enjoy them. They had activity rooms where they painted and did crafts. They had a movie room where they showed movies. They had exercise rooms. It was perfect for what my friend's needs were. We had a meal there, and it was nice.

My friend will be going into Sonnet Hill Senior Living. When I went to visit it, I was very impressed with the facility being new as well as the philosophy of the place, the training that the aides have received, and what the new ones will be receiving. What I liked the most was the fact that each resident will be treated individually. The plan that would work for her (following her assessment and all) would be an individualized plan to what her needs are and what her level of care is. The aides have been very well trained. The facility is, of course, new. They just opened last month in June. I like that they have units. Each unit has two rooms like bedrooms. It is almost like a studio. There are two units plus a small kitchenette and a little foyer. They share a bathroom. I got the unit for two people mainly because my friend still has her privacy of having her own private bedroom within that unit. I like that she had that privacy and yet there will be another person there. I requested that she would be in a two-unit with another person because of where she is and her experience. She's used to having someone around, so even though they have their own separate bedroom, she will have someone else there that I think will be more suitable for her. They have the amenities that all the other places have. It's very good. Because they are still very brand new, they are still working on registrations and people coming in, but as far as I could see, the activity room was very well set up and very good according to what my friend's particular interests are. Everything is so new that it's beautiful and it's outstanding. I like the fact that for memory care, it is very safe, and it is well contained, and yet you don't have that feeling that you're in a place where it's kind of locked down. For instance, I did see yesterday a resident that they had that was wandering. The nurse was with him, but she was not pushing him or crowding him or trying to get him to stop what he was doing, but she was there supervising and walking with him, so giving him that supervision he needed without forcing him to do something that he was not interested in doing, so I was very impressed with the way the nurse was handling the situation. They had a nice tea for us when we sat to speak with the intake person. They also have the chef come out and greet my friend. He made some nice little pastries and set up the table very well, and so that was very nice. All of the staff from the receptionists to nurses we're all very, very friendly and welcoming to her. They called her by her name, so they knew that she was coming. Everyone there was prepared to know that she was coming and what her name is. I thought that was very nice. It is also pet-friendly. Two therapy dogs came over to greet her, and she loves pets. They do encourage the resident to bring their pets and of course, somebody from their family would need to provide for the pet. The staff would take the pet out and give it its potty break and those kinds of things, so that was very nice.
