This was an amazing facility to visit. North Hollywood is an awesome area; with lots of attractions and it is within walking distance of sight-seeing, bus stops, and shopping - which the caregivers are able to take the client to with the client provider's permission. This is not like a nursing home at all... It is more of a place where family can drop their elderly loved-one off while they are at work and are unable to care for them during the day. The caregivers were laid back, friendly, and fun to be around. While I was inside, they offered me something to drink and a snack - and the clients there seemed very happy with the caregivers there. This is an excellent day-care facility for anyone that needs to go to work during the day while caring for their family member at night and weekends on their own.

My experience with Family Adult Day Health Care was for two reasons. I had an internship for my Psychology class (we were studying the effects of Alzheimer's Disease), and a potential meeting for my grandmother to go to this center. (My grandmother ended up being cared for by my mother, and a private nurse) I got to spend 2 different days here at different years to check things out. The staff were really friendly. They greet you when you come right through the door. The have security precautions. They ask for I.D. and ask you to sign in if you are visiting. They have a shuttle that takes you to and from home. There is a kitchen where they prepare breakfast, lunch and snacks. Sometimes a man comes in and plays guitar or the seniors watch movies. I was there the day they watched "Breakfast at Tiffanys". We ate popcorn, and gathered around the television. They have arts and crafts. The seniors are encouraged to go for walks in their backyard area accompanied by a nurses aide or volunteer. The nurse regularly checks the seniors blood pressure, and gives them their medication. If they need help in the bathroom they are attended to. The quality of care could have been somewhat better for what the seniors pay. The building is very small, and the parking lot is small also.
