Samaritan Village is a very beautiful community. They were very, very helpful, very polite, and very friendly. They have lots to offer for somebody with my dad's care and needs. It's very clean, very uplifting, and very encouraging. We talked to some of the seniors there, and some of them have only been there for two weeks, and they were very happy. They never experienced anything like this. The people are just very outgoing. If I had to rate it a ten out of a ten, I'd give it a ten. They have a five-star restaurant there open to the public. They offer their clients 45 meals free a month. The family members can come and stay up to two weeks with the family member that's there. They have a place where the family member can do puzzles and read books, and they have theaters. They have just so much to offer for the family member that goes there. The rooms are brand new. The buildings are kept. They have an exercise room. The bathroom is equipped for handicapped, and it's wheelchair accessible. It has its own kitchen facility and a front room. The only thing that they didn't have is it's not furnished. You furnish it the way you want it to be furnished. They have someone come in and help clean every so often. It's very, very nice. It's like an apartment, almost like a hotel, but better. It's like a five-star hotel. It's just beautiful. All you see are happy elderly people, and they're very friendly, and they just seemed very content. When you go in there, you don't see a bunch of grouchy people in there.

My husband resided at Samaritan Village for about six weeks while his body finished healing enough for him to come home. He was consistently treated with kindness and respect and found the staff friendly and competent. His meals were very good and the kitchen staff was very helpful in suggesting and preparing his vegetarian meals. There weren't many activities that he could enjoy in his area, but he did like the Bingo games and the outside patio where he could sit in the sun and read. Also, the laundry personnel were so kind and careful of his clothes, which was a real important amenity to me. Although his room was very small, he did enjoy having his recliner and his desk/ chair from home (as well as a couple of lamps and tables) to make it feel more cozy. The management was very helpful in arranging a time for a special bed to be delivered for him, and then returned after his departure. He felt comfortable there and I felt at ease with him getting the care and attention he needed at that time.

I have picked Samaritan Village. I went there for a tour. It was very nice, and I liked it. I haven't found anything else that kind of goes along with it, as good as it is. I didn't get to see any of the apartments because they were all filled, but I did a tour of the main lobby and I looked at the exercise rooms and I talked about the amenities that they have. The tour was great. It was very pleasant. Nadia was the one that did the tour, and everything was super great. It was very nice. I was pleased. The most that I liked was the restaurant. The menu is great. There was only just a couple of activities that I wasn't interested in, but I was interested in most of the activities that they have. I would give them a four because I wasn't able to visit any of the apartments. I've just seen the main lobby, the beauty salon, the weight room, and the worship room. I would have liked to see an apartment, but they were all full, so I wasn't able to do that. They got an indoor heated pool, pool tables, poker tables, bocce, and live music. They have a bus that takes people to the grocery store. There's a yoga class, a dance class, a painting class, and a library. They would keep me busy, that's for sure.

We went and saw both the independent and assisted living at Samaritan Village. It is a very nice place. They have very friendly staff and there is a lot of activities for the residents. The thing we did not like was there were only 45 meals given a month for the independent living, which means you have to pick and choose. They kind of have a private restaurant and you have to pay on top of that if you want more. In the assisted living, they gave three meals a day, but you were limited to your room. They have a library, a salon, and movies on some nights. It was just too far out of the way for us, the meals wouldn't work out, and he was not quite ready for assisted living yet.

My parents lived in Samaritan Village. They had all kinds of activities, and they had an activities room where they could go and play games. They could play bingo, bocce ball, they had a little theater in there, they had a beauty salon, they had a library where you could go and use the computers, and they had TVs in the hallways where you could sit and watch movies and TV. They had different things each day, like Friday was donut day, and they had a really nice dining room that had actually very good food. It was actually a restaurant where you could go in and eat. It was a nice place and the staff was wonderful.

Samaritan Village was very nice; like the landscaping was nice. It was just too far to walk from the apartment that we looked at there to the dining hall, because it's in an outer area. With my mom's knees she won't be able to walk that far, so that's the only reason why we didn't choose them. The staff member was very helpful and very nice to deal with. They had a cafeteria plus they also had a dining or restaurant, the rooms had full kitchens, and you can have a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom apartment. The apartments all looked out onto a grassy knoll, and they have concerts out there so you can go out to your balcony and watch the concerts.

Samaritan Village is a large facility, and my father-in-law enjoys living there. They have assisted living and independent living, and they provide help at all levels. The food is good. I was pleasantly surprised with the facility. The staff I've interacted with was very nice. The dining area was like a little restaurant that you could go ambulatory over to or they bring the food to the rooms depending on the level of assistance a person gets, but it's all the same food. We've had lunch and dinner with him on several occasions, and we liked the food. The place looks brand new and it's well maintained, and it has nice grounds. It's a shockingly nice place.

I live at Samaritan Village. They're really good, I'm not unhappy with them at all. I'm happy with the care, they've got an indoor swimming pool, an activity manager that handles all kinds of stuff for you to do if you're interested in doing anything. It's a nice place. The building is kept well, a park-like place, there's all kinds of grassy area, and you'd think it's a country club or something. It's a very attractive place for me.

Overall I love the staff and care at I! Everyone has been very caring and a true sense of compassion. Their dining hall/restaurant has a great menu and fantastic salad bar. They even have waiters/waitresses! The Mall, where everything is located,ie Chapel, Movie Theatre, Salon, Library, etc is very clean. You're always greeted by the front desk lobby with smiles. However - Country Manor / assisted care / memory care is inadequately staffed or equipped to handle advanced dementia/Alzheimers residents. WereWhaving to place my Dad at another facility due to this fact. It's unfortunate because my folks are looking to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary in June and I know this will take it's emotional toll on my mother. This is one of the reasons we had chosen SV for my folks... So that in either of their last walks in life they wouldn't be separated by distance. This is the only drawback I see at SV. Otherwise, they're a fantastic retirement community.

We settled on Samaritan Village for my grandmother. It seemed very lively and social. We liked the upbeat, cheerful atmosphere. The place was nice, updated, and clean. They offer church services, an indoor pool with water aerobics, game nights in the game hall, exercise classes, a gym, gospel singing, a small movie theater, a library, and a post office. It's a really neat place.

Everything was very nice at Samaritan Village. They took us on a tour. The room that we saw was a very nice size and very clean. It was lived in by people because they did not have any empty ones to show us. The residents there looked very happy and very content.

I had three main requirements, and Samaritan Village Retirement Community was the only one that met them. I wanted a washer and dryer in my unit, an indoor swimming pool that I could swim in year round, and a kitchen. The staff was fantastic, caring, and acted like they really enjoyed their jobs. The residents seemed to like them a lot, too. I had a good meal with the residents instead of staff members so I was able to talk to them about how they liked it. They said nothing but good things about the food. They had a salad bar, and you could either eat there or go to the to-go window and bring the food back to your room if you wanted to, which was very convenient. It looked like it would meet everybody's needs. I went to their chocolate jazz and wine tasting festival even though I'm not a resident. They had a knitting group.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to share about your visit! It was wonderful seeing you again at the Jazz, Wine & Chocolate event. I hope you've been doing well and thank you for the kind words!

Samaritan Village was the place we liked the best, and it was also the most expensive. It was a very attractive place with very nice facilities, but there was no place that suited our particular need. We saw the rooms that were for assisted living. They were studio apartments, and they were only for one person. Two people could share a room, but it would be extremely close quarters. The other places were out in separate buildings, which were some distance away from the main hall. The rooms were very nice. Everything was very nice about it -- it just wasn't what we felt we needed. We would have wanted a place where we could fix our own food at least part of the time, and the assisted living did not have that. I would rate it very highly as far as the amenities and the way it looks. However, it was out of our range cost wise. Everyone was very nice and very helpful. It was a very nice visit. It's a very large place with a lot of different kinds of buildings, separate cottage type places, a lot of apartments, and a variety of ways of living there.

I was by my sister's house, and she knows about Samaritan Village. My mom also knew some people there. The staff was friendly, and the grounds were nice. It seems that they have most everything that my parents would need. The rooms were nice, clean, and relatively spacious. They had a good variety of different services and activities. The dining room setup looked nice. There were some concerns about how hard it would be for my parents to be able to get to the dining area since they don't get around so easily. Otherwise, they would probably be in another building. The accessibility of the dining area is one thing they could improve upon. As for safety and security, it was gated, and it looked sufficient. The place was nice, and the people were nice.

I moved to Samaritan Village after living in another retirement community. Samaritan had so much more to offer. Staff on duty 24 hrs. a day for help. Which I have had to use. The choice of dinning and food, Active and caring community with superior customer service. I have met many new friends. I have a lot of things to do with a lot of social active. A beautiful campus. A great apartment and a great place to live. Mel Resident

We have setup my parents in Samaritan Village Retirement. It was chosen because it is located where the family is situated. The amenities are wonderful, and the staff is extremely friendly. We had meals there, and the food was excellent. My parents like the facility very much. They have just been there for two weeks, and I think it is great. I actually would like to move in there myself.

Our Parents had lived in the independent section at Samaritan Village for three years. First in a one bedroom and then moving to a two bedroom apartment. Independent living at SV is just that. You have all the privacy but you can still join in on the many activities and social events that they offer. Last year our Mom required more extensive care and needed to move but our Dad stayed and we knew he would have care and good meals. In January Dad suffered a stroke and needed assisted living quickly. We felt very lucky to have the services of Country Manor at SV to meet his needs. Within two days the staff at SV had helped us make arrangements to move him when he left the hlspital. It was a gift to be able to keep him in a place he was used to that offers such great care and great food! SV is full of friendly people and a very caring staff. I would highly recommend it. Like living at a 4-star hotel with all the services

We were favorably impressed with Samaritan Village. Their apartments are very nice and of reasonable size. The fees were comparable with the other places we visited. They have different levels of care for seniors but their business model is different and on a monthly basis, so lifetime care commitment is not assured.

This is a beautiful facility. Unfortunately it was the third one I visited, so i was on three lists! We especially liked the gorgeous restaurant they had. I really couldnt find much to kick about, except that I felt my mom was just there to visit and I try not to say the "A" word a lot and their marketing rep came on too strong and it surprised my mom. I wasnt real happy about that. The rep asked mom if she was ready to sign up. Mom just looked at me. I reminded her we were just touring for the day. That was unfortunate. I dont want to point fingers because otherwise the facility is perfect. I guess we will keep trying with mom, just without the A word! They should be very proud of it. I may move out there myself! I've checked different facilities and the Samaritan Village in Hughson is a better one. It's run by a Catholic church. I like it because it's laid out nice. It's got nice apartments and seems to have everything. It's got a better environment and it seems to fit everything for anyone staying at it. It isn't just one big building. It's a place where people live in different rooms. While some of the facilities look just like a hotel, this one looks like a village not a hotel. We talked to some of the residents and I like everything there. Everything was fine. I have no negative comments about it at all. I would absolutely recommend it to other people.

My loved one stayed here

We researched many facilities and this was clearly the best one, by far. It's a beautiful 5 Starr Hotel looking place, well managed, a kind and caring staff, the cream of the crop. Great staff and great food, with lots of activities. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
