"I have toured Cantata Adult Life Services. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very strong on marketing. For the most part, the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The room's layout was ok and the size was about average, but for my needs, it felt small. I saw some residents playing cards, they have an exercise area for the residents which was positive, they also have a library and some attractive common spaces for gatherings. The outdoor area looks nice, but the facilities themselves need more updating for accessibility, particularly. "

"Autumn Green at Wright Campus was very comfortable. The apartment was a good size. They had motion sensors in the apartment, so if there's no motion within so many hours, they'll check on you, which is nice. They had a sprinkler system in case of fire. Size-wise, everything was good, and my friend really liked it. The staff was very nice. The dining area seemed very relaxed. It didn't seem like a café; it seemed more like you're having dinner in your dining room. It was a very comfortable setting. They had quite a few activities. There was an outside area, but it was raining that day. We didn't go outside at all. One side of the building is facing the football field at the new Taft High School, so if you're into football, you get front row seats for the games."

"My best friend's mom was here for rehab; it was a great experience, wonderful staff, very clean and it had everything she needed. The staff really cared. The other patience along with those that live there were very pleasant and seemed happy to be there. This all contributed to her recovery. Thanks to all the staff at St. Joe's...."

"Dad moved to Clarendale Six Corners. We chose this place because his unit was more like a one-bedroom condo versus a lot of the other places that looked like college dorms. This place is for senior assisted living, but it's also for independent living. So, my father liked that better because in other places, everyone was in wheelchairs and they were kind of looking off into space. My dad's not there yet. He liked that the people there were more present and more physical, like they were walking around. They have a lot of social things. They do happy hours. They go on field trips and they play games a lot. If you're an independent living, you get some credits for a month for some meals, and then you have to pay once your credits are over. The way we made it more affordable for Dad (because assisted living is very expensive) we put him in an independent unit. So, that cut the cost down to half, but he still gets all the amenities, except for the free meals, and then he still has a caregiver that comes into his unit and does what he needs for him. So, it worked out that way. The meals are delicious. They have vegetarian food and everything you might want. The staff is all very nice and they all try to give a very welcoming feel and they'll stop and help you out with anything. Very nice people."

"We went to Concord Place Retirement Community. It's got everything that a family could need for a loved one. It was impressive. It's got independent living, assisted living, and then independent living with a la carte services, so you can choose what extra services you need because you might not need all the assisted daily living activities. If you only need medication management, you can just add that out for a fee every month. In that sense it's easier for the family to figure out where their parent is at, and what kind of services they need. They have a lot of entertainment and social activities, and they have doctors come visit there. The only drawback that I saw was that the studios were a little bit smaller. The staff member who gave the tour was a fantastic gentleman. He's upfront and explained everything."

"I'm moving into Amazing Grace Senior Living. I like it. It's close to home. I'm giving it a 5 because of the care they show there. It's new. The people are happy, too. The staff member who assisted me was Susan, and she was good. I tried their food, and it was good. I was hungry, and I missed lunch, so they gave me a sandwich. It was a tasty sandwich, better than anything I got at the other place. The rooms were adequate. At the other place, you get a two-room suite, but at Amazing Grace, it is a fairly small room, but it has a private bath and a nice window."

"Anna from Norwood Crossing was very, very informative. She covered everything and did better at her job. She knew her stuff well and she also had a lot of empathy. They showed us the bathing rooms, and I thought that was nice. The place looked older though, but it was very, very nice."

"Sheridan at Oak Brook was very new, very upscale, and lovely. Not inexpensive, but also very nice. The ones that I met seemed very knowledgeable and very pleasant. The amenities are all up to date. They have a broad number of activities. The apartments were bright and cheerful, the size was adequate, and well-laid out. They had a variety of models for the apartments."

"I toured American House Oak Park. Everything was fine except for the fact that they charge you for parking. I don't understand why there would be a fee because you're paying a steep amount to live there, and then they want to charge you $125 to park. The place was fantastic. It was beautiful. Just gorgeous. The staff showed us more than one location and gave us ideas. He showed us a room that was already furnished and an unfurnished room. I love the way everything is highlighted to where you know where you are at all times. It's clean and it's only a year old. It's half full, which is what I like due to the fact that you could get in there right now and meet the people and be more of the community before they're full. Jeremy was very pleasant to interview. Even the people as we walked through, waved at us and said hello. It was kind of comforting to have Mom and Dad see that. It was a fantastic tour. The place was simply gorgeous. I enjoyed it."

"My aunt is currently living in Covenant Home of Chicago. The CNAs are amazing, they're very helpful, very attentive, and she has no complaints, and she's very close to her CNA. They're always watching movies and they have games that they play. I've seen volunteers come in, and they bring in their dogs. There's also a room where they go in and they can paint, draw, or make things like jewelry and stuff like that. My aunt can't really engage in all that, but I've seen things that she's made, like art creations. They play bingo, I remember that. It's very clean. Whenever my sister and I go there and visit her, the room smells nice. We sometimes help out, just tidying up her closet and stuff, but the bathroom is clean, the floors are clean. She does have an incontinence problem, especially at night, so the staff is always helpful with cleaning her bed and all that. However, they did not give us enough time, or warning, when they raised the monthly fees. So we were struggling with coming up with financial support. My aunt said the food is pretty good. She said that sometimes it's almost too much, because she doesn't eat a lot. They have people coming over all the time. There's even someone who does their nails and their hair. They really keep them engaged."

"We toured Belmont Village Lincoln Park, and it was great. I liked that the parking is conveniently under the facility. All you have to do is park and walk out, and you're at the front door. The rooms were a nice, decent size. The floors were not easily accessible, like in memory care, everything is locked. We went, and they were having a community center so that the elderly people were sitting in a room watching television, and the staff was attending to them. They were giving medication at the same time, and everyone was really nice and cooperative. I feel that the staff works great with everyone because when you have memory care patients, they give you a difficult time sometimes with medication. The staff was nice. Penny was awesome, very informative. She was the lady who met with us, and then the guy at the front desk was really nice. They had an activity going on in the lobby, so there was music playing. The seniors were sitting out there being entertained. We walked around. Everything looked very organized, clean, and smelled nice. It's beautiful."

"We liked Sunrise of Lincoln Park a lot and had a good experience while visiting. Everyone was really friendly. The entire facility was very clean and very well laid out. They seemed to have a lot of activities. It felt more like a very nice hotel than a senior home, which is what we like about it. It’s the kind of place where one could socialize well, and the residents looked happy and lively. It had a very good feel to it and is very open and inviting. The bedroom was really nice, spacious, and accommodating. They have a nice restaurant on the first floor. "

"I did a tour. I like the cleanliness and safety of the rooms. I like the activities and the people. I liked the fact that there were other people (who I knew from this facility that had also moved there), and they liked the place. They had a library. They have the beauty and barber salon. They have medical facility and a chapel. They are not pet friendly. The staff was very nice. They were very accommodating to us who were there. There was no pressure whatsoever to take the place; they were just showing it. The only thing that I didn't like is that it took a very long time because there was three of us, and we all signed up. We had to wait until we were done, and it took several hours."

"When we walked in to Bridgeway of Bensenville, we felt that that was it. They were very, very nice and friendly. The open area was very nice as well as the apartment and it's not that expensive. The people are wonderful and really make you feel at home. The food is very good. I'll recommend this place to other people. "
