I visited this facility

We went to tour Norwood Crossing. It was a beautiful facility in a beautiful neighborhood, but the information that we were given was a lot. It was a little overwhelming. The room in the memory care was very plain. It was like a small hospital room, but everyone there seemed very well cared for, and it smelled good there. They had a nice dining room and they had activities. For me, it was just a little too big, and it did not have that homey feel that I was looking for. I did not like that it seemed like a very large facility. The staff who gave me the tour was excellent. She was very kind and very knowledgeable. She seemed to know all of the people. She was talking to everyone. The whole facility appeared to be well-kept.

Anna from Norwood Crossing was very, very informative. She covered everything and did better at her job. She knew her stuff well and she also had a lot of empathy. They showed us the bathing rooms, and I thought that was nice. The place looked older though, but it was very, very nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was at Norwood Crossing. She went in sort of in the lowest level of care, she was living pretty independently, and they did medication checks, and then as time went on she became very ill and she unfortunately was admitted into their hospice program and passed away. Nevertheless, I cannot say enough good things about them, they were just unbelievably fabulous through every phase of my mother's time there. They're really loving, fabulous people, and I would not hesitate to recommend people look at that facility. Everybody from the cleaning people to the medical staff, the physical therapists, they were fantastic, and I'm in heathcare, so I'm a hard sell, so they were really good. My mother always had issues with the food, so she did not like the food there, and sadly she complained about it. Early on my mother had her own little apartment, which was really nice because she got to have her own furniture and even her cat. They also had a wing of nursing beds that she stayed in when she was in hospice, and that was fine. They had a whole range of activities both inside as well as outside, and they had transportation, too. For the price point it was also great.

Very disappointed with the quality of care and lack of communication. Many messages have been left for the Director of Nursing and they are rot retuned. The Administrator is rude and has raised his tone abruptly several times during conversations. He has no people skills and is highly unprofessional. This is a problem with the current state of restrictions and it needs to be addressed.

Norwood Crossing was very nice. I liked their program. It wasn't as large as I would like it to be, but everything seemed pretty good. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, went over everything with us, and showed us the whole place. It's a good experience. The dining area was nice, clean, and well-lit enough.

I didn't feel as comfortable with Norwood Crossing. It was very big, and lots of people were just walking around. You had to go up the elevator to get to one place and down here to get to somewhere else. The entrance to Norwood Crossing was just very big and awkward for me. I didn't really care for it. People there were also nice, and they showed me around. The skilled area, I wasn't that thrilled with. It was very dark and old.

I visited this facility

My visit at Norwood Crossing was good. It seemed like a nice place. It seemed clean to me. I only met one staff member, and she was very good. She was the one giving the tour, and she was very friendly. The facility looked like they have a lot set up for people. They have a little store for their residents. The place was very spacious. Also it was in a nice location.

I visited this facility

Norwood Crossing seems to have a lot of activities. The room is carpeted. It has its own bathroom, not a kitchenette because we wouldn't want anyone to cook. It's also a nursing home at the same time. I liked it when I visited; I thought it was very clean. The staff is very helpful. So far, I have no problems. They've all been very efficient. Norwood Crossing is a good fit.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The caregiver just got my mother up, she made her breakfast and basically my mother stayed in bed and the lady just sat on the sofa reading her book. It wasn't like they really made an attempt to get her up to get out of bed. She was comfortable but she didn't feel comfortable enough to tell the lady to do things. They should try to talk more to the elderly person. It shouldn't just be you go in, you do the job and that's it. You try to motivate the person a little bit to help them.

My parents-in-law are in Norwood Crossing in an area called Norwood Park in Chicago. My mother-in-law just moved in yesterday and my father-in-law has been there for two months in rehabilitation. They have both been appreciating and enjoying the activities there for about a month. They are very friendly there and they're getting good care. The staff are very involved in the well being of the residents. It's a wonderful place and I would recommend this facility to others.

Overall, I feel that this was a nice facility. My grandfather lived there for about a year. When I went to visit, the staff was very nice and helpful. The facility itself was set up very nicely and it was easy to get around. They also seemed to have a lot of different areas for the residents to do different activities. The food seemed pretty decent as well. The residents appeared to be relatively happy with the staff. It was nice to see that the staff members did care about the residents. This was especially important to me because I had a relative living there. When looking at different assisted living facilities, some seemed dirty and appeared to have staff members that were pretty rude. This facility was clean and had a caring staff. They also had a nice outdoor area for the residents as well, which i thought was very nice. Overall, this is a good assisted living facility and I would recommend it to others.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The nursing Home is great because it was so nice their and the nurses were so kind to you. At the nursing home they're were several enjoyable activities and entertainment that I loved! I had great time at the spas and the excellent sauna during the winter. I would tell anyone over the age of sixty to come here now. It was one of the greatest place I have ever been to. The beds were the best they were as fluffy as a sheep! I thought they were sheep. At Norwood Crossing I was treated extremely kind. Me and my buddies went there played checkers and relaxed for 2 years. The food was yummy and I loved the broth they served. The soup was also extravagant! My favorite meal of all was the milky mashed potatoes with this amazing gravy. The food was amazing I tell you. My daughter can't even cook as good as them. Now that's saying something because I used to think my daughter was a great cook. another decent thing is that they let relatives to stay for a long time and even lets them stay for the night. Overall I had an amazing 2 years at Norwood Crossing and would recommend it to many people.

I absolutely love this place. My family found out about this place soon after we learned that the previous facility failed to care for her properly. This place really knows how to take care of their residents. They are super attentive, friendly and upbeat in personality. My aunt loves to talk and whenever she's engaging in conversation or group activities, her face lights up. The staff seemed eager to involve her in as many group activities as possible. My aunt has made several good friends and she seems happy. So I am very happy with the current situation.

Visited this facility

This review is for the Norwood Crossing assisted living facility (rather than the nursing home). We first noticed the building from the street since we live in the area. We thought it was a private school or condo development, because the front foliage was so lovely. But we were glad to discover that it offered assisted living, since we needed to find a local place for our great-aunt to live. The "memory support garden" in the interior is ample, convenient to the rest of the buildings, but still tranquil. Our aunt used to do a lot of gardening, so she really liked that aspect. The one bedrooms are a nice size, with hardwood floors and carpeting, large enough for a relative's occasional overnight stay. However, the bathrooms in some are off of the bedroom, which could be awkward for guests. The kitchenette opens to the living area, which is nice and bright. The common eating area resembles a casual restaurant with plenty of space between tables. The food we sampled was quite good - at least restaurant quality. The snacks looked really good and are offered all of the time. The piano room has large glass windows with a beautiful view of the center courtyard. Another gathering area resembles a large drawing room with comfortable chairs. There are plenty of staff and trained nurses to provide whatever level of care is required. We were told there is a book club and they make regular library trips, which our aunt really likes since she is an avid reader. They have many exercise programs, live events and other scheduled activities and outings. We could tell by how the residents appeared that they were very well-cared for.
