My tour at The Sheridan at Oak Brook was very positive and extremely helpful. I had a friend with me, and a woman named Adi showed us around. She just was patient and explained everything very thoroughly. We saw the areas where card games would be played, their game rooms. They had something I never saw before, a bar, and they could serve light meals there. We saw three apartments, and they were interesting. I think their buildings are only two or three years old. They have white countertops, which are great for seniors. The way the windows work and everything, it's all very well done. The floors are nice and straight, and it has excellent carpeting. They have one thing that I thought is a very good idea. People can come in and change things like the color of the walls or the carpeting, but when they leave, they have to have it restored to its original state, that was nice. The apartments were good sizes and well done. We saw a bus, and they provide transportation at least three days a week. It could be the whole week, but by appointment, and within seven miles. That is very nice, especially for doctor's appointments, and things like that.

Sheridan at Oak Brook was very new, very upscale, and lovely. Not inexpensive, but also very nice. The ones that I met seemed very knowledgeable and very pleasant. The amenities are all up to date. They have a broad number of activities. The apartments were bright and cheerful, the size was adequate, and well-laid out. They had a variety of models for the apartments.

Our mother was a Memory Care resident at the Sheridan from September 2021 thru the end of June 2022. The facility itself is beautiful but the care can only be categorized as over-promised and under-delivered. Staff turnover was a constant and their reliance upon agency nursing created an atmosphere of instability for the residents under their care. In February a new nursing staff was hired in hopes of bringing about change but it became clear that the care program is not up to the standards of the industry for the price of residency. The cleanliness of the units were too often lacking and cleanliness of my mother's daily attire and physical appearance was disheartening for our family to witness. Our experience with the Sheridan at Oakbrook was not a good one and our recommendation is to closely vet and compare care facilities so as not to be fooled by pretty surroundings and shallow promises.

We have chosen The Sheridan at Oak Brook because it was a rental versus a buy-in. It was brand new. It was a year old, and it was 15 minutes from my children. There are one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. They have an exercise room and a theater room. They have PT, OT, and speech. They have a primary doctor on call. They have an audiologist, and they had several different doctors that come in weekly. They also have an art room. It was very, very luxurious and very pretty. Outside, there's an area that overlooks a pond, and it has a mile to walk around. It's a heated and air-conditioned garage. During the winter, you can walk in the underground garage. There were four people that I interacted with, and they were lovely.
