My sister is at Greenfield of Williamsburg. It’s a wonderful facility. It is well designed and well provided for. To be honest, I cannot find another facility at the price I’m paying at Greenfield. Food is very good, the place is very clean, and the rooms are very large. There are two levels in 2 separate sections, one for dementia and the other one for assisted living. It’s completely furnished. They have beautiful furniture and large screen TVs. It’s a wonderful facility. They had a change of leadership about 6 or 7 months ago.

Flower's Assisted Living doesn't have a room for the residents to take part in activities. They have single level apartments and one of the apartments where everybody eats is where everybody also has their activities. They have games that they play and that's the extent of it. The owner was very nice. The facility just looked sad. There wasn't anything for anybody to do and it looked kind of rundown. If people wanted to have their meals and it was raining, they would need to walk through the rain to get to the house.

Flower's Assisted Living was great except for the fact that they had bathtubs instead of walk-in showers. Otherwise, it's great. The people were friendly and nice. They were eating lunch when we got there. It's a little bit smaller, but it's also a little bit cheaper. It's for people with lower income. They had community tables in their dining room, which some people don't like, but I personally think it's good. Otherwise, the residents might just stay in their room and watch TV and not get out and communicate with other people. Also, it was very clean and very nice. The girl that was working there was young, but she was very knowledgeable and helpful. They had a fence so people could have their pets with them, which I thought was wonderful. We saw two small dogs there and they were very nice and friendly and the people were enjoying them. One man was sitting outside in the sun and really enjoying it. We went over to the area where the cook was making their lunch that day, which smelled delicious. He was very friendly and nice, and he talked to us about what he was fixing. The rooms were a little bit smaller and it was a little bit of an older building, but it was also cheaper. The staff member we talked to was knowledgeable, and she knew what she was doing. She knew the people, they knew her, and everybody was friendly, nice, and helpful. The kitchen was very clean. The facility was nice. It fit in with the Southwestern decor. They had a fence so the dogs couldn't get out, or so people don't wander away. They had tables and chairs outside where residents could sit if they wanted to. It was very nice, clean, and freshly painted. There was an electrician or a plumber working that day, so apparently as soon as they have a problem, they take care of it very promptly.

Country Meadows has a nice open area and looked like it had lots of activities. It was clean and very nice. They have lots of trips to shopping and shows.

If you were to take a big apartment at Flower's, it would be like a family apartment. People shared bathrooms and a living area, so you would really have to be able to get along with the people who were in that particular unit. The nice thing about it was it was all on one floor. The residents were nice, and they talked to me. At first, they were not very friendly because they didn't know who I was due to a mix-up with the appointment. It didn't seem as well-organized, but then, they realized that we just wanted to see a room. There was one lady working there who showed me some places; she became friendly, but she hadn't been at first. The rooms kind of had a smell to them. It wasn't really inviting.

My father was at the Flower's for three months. I liked it. It was very nice. They had very helpful staff. My dad got excellent care. The staff itself was very knowledgeable, yet very friendly and helpful. When I first put my dad there, he needed help doing everything, but now he doesn't. He does very well on his own. However, the community wasn't active enough for my dad. They had a lot of programs to do, but the residents needed a lot more care than my dad did, so their activities didn't appeal to him. Food was all right. It was nutritious. It wasn't bad, but to me, it was very bland. They served three meals a day plus snacks.
