Heritage Monona is a fun community where people are allowed to do bingo, cards, and activities for different physical abilities. They offer lunches in the dining room, and the care is very great from independent living, to assisted, and memory. My mom has been there and the staff has been great, from the front desk, the management, and even to the maintenance. She has a one-bedroom with a washer and dryer in it, a patio, and a full kitchen. It's very easy to take care of, so it's very nice. The food is very good too. She enjoys it and they have great choices. You can choose from three different meal plans every day, and they're very accommodating. They also have this back area where you can invite families for barbecues, then you can do some plantings, or go to their pub area for happy hour on Fridays. There are gatherings once a month for all the residents to do dinners, and music, and that, and shuttle services that will take you shopping once a week, and to doctors' appointments as well.

The care team is very friendly and do what they can, but the place is extremely mismanaged. There are times when you cannot find anyone, forget about nights and weekends. Residents will be calling out for help and no one answers. I even pushed my dad's button and it was 1.5 hours before someone came in the room. Medications are missed, meals leave a lot to be desired. The floor nurse will lie to cover problems she creates by not leading her staff. Staff is not trained with transfers or specific resident issues and the turnover is very high. Once problems started getting worse with my father not getting his medications for days. Don't let them fool you...We pulled the plug and got him the heck out of there before something really bad happened.

Our tour experience with Heritage Monona was outstanding. The manager has been taking care of us since the minute I first stepped foot in the place. He has been attentive, even when I didn't have any appointments. When he caught sight of us, he immediately dropped everything and showed us around. We had to call back a couple of times with additional questions, and he has been very, very helpful. They have multiple staff, like occupational and physical therapists, and whenever we run into them, they were kind and friendly. They talked about what they will be doing with my dad once he's there. It's just a great place, and the facility itself is clean. It's quite lovely. It's the one place that we looked at that my dad really felt like it was home.

We had an aunt that lived in Heritage Monona. The facility was very nice but they seemed to have quite a bit of staff turnover while she was there. The food was good and the staff was attentive. But they always seemed to be short-staffed, that's the biggest hurdle we had there. Otherwise, it was a nice facility. She had a 1-bedroom, she had a small living room, a kitchenette or diner kind of area, and a bath. They have activities like bingo, crafts, and happy hour on Friday nights, and they had story time where someone would come in and read actual novels to a group of residents.

My aunt has moved into Heritage Monona. There had been a few little issues, but we got those straightened out. Right now, the one thing I did not like about it is I don't feel like they have enough staff. Their nursing assistants are floating from one place to another. They are using a nurse from another area in Wisconsin that has to drive here three times a week. There is no nurse on the weekend. You have to have an appointment to go in and visit her. They are always booked because they only allow ten people at the time. Then when I called to go in the weekend, they said to me, 'We're booked for the next five weekends.' So as a family, we weren't even told that. We cannot even go visit on the weekend because they are booked. My sister made some phone calls about some things, and they never got back to her. When I made a phone call and I talked to a woman, she got really rude to me and she went, 'I'm going to send you over to somebody else.' Since then, we haven't had any problem. I have hospice coming in now, and my aunt is getting palliative care. I also have physical therapy going in and a social worker now. Heritage Monona knows that they are not going to be able to play games with me. Her waste basket had not been emptied for four days. I made a phone call on that. They are short-handed, and their activities need to change. Especially with the weather changing, they need to change some of their activities. She said the food is OK, but I think the portions were very small. When I brought it up to them, they said, 'Well, she can ask for more.' They also bring the dessert before the meals. She had a wheelchair downstairs which has now disappeared, but the hallways are clean and they do maintenance.

I'm currently living in Heritage Monona. Some of the aides are very, very nice, and some don't say anything to you when they bring your meal or pills. The food can either be very, very good or very, very bad. They've had four or five of the higher ups that moved on to someplace else, and they're short of help. There are not many activities. The activity person tries to keep us involved in everything, but more or less she's bringing stuff for us from the Internet. We have happy hour on Tuesday and she's starting to take us for walks outside, but there's a lot that can be desired. A lot of the residents are not very happy about it. They have a library, but during the COVID shutdown the library was closed. I assumed it would be open soon. They do your laundry, they bring your pills to you, and they clean the apartment when it needs to be cleaned.

I found a place that I would like to move into and it's Heritage Monona. I chose it because it's the community where I used to live in and where my home was. I'm very familiar with things around there and where to go for things. The second thing is a complaint that they really don't get back to you. I sent in an application by mail and I didn't receive anything, either a phone call or an email that yeah, they received my application and they'll keep us in mind. Nothing like that. So that's it. The room looks nice, but I need a walk-in shower and I don't need a bathtub. They said they have apartments that have walk-in showers. I put that on my application that I needed that because I'm in a wheelchair and getting in and out of a bathtub would be difficult. The staff seemed nice enough. The apartments have kitchens. Basically, you do your own cooking, but they also offer meals.

I would never choose this place. I get frequent pleas from my aunt to have her moved. Food is pitiful, served cold, thrown on a styrofoam dish, they try to give duplicate medicines, staff is poorly trained and careless with any kind of details. Rare trips to store offered. Everyone just looks the other way and state refuses to investigate.

They were very friendly at Heritage Senior Living Monona. It was very clean and I was very impressed. They have activities and they have a huge calendar. They have outside events and it sounded like they really try to engage the seniors there. The staff member talked about how they're big on the food and the diet. They have a really good chef that puts care into the meals. They have a dining room, so everybody comes together at mealtimes. The rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpful and professional. It's cozy, aesthetically pleasing, and it has a nice, warm, homey feel to it.

Heritage Senior Living Monona was a topnotch facility. The staff was absolutely topnotch also. The grounds were beautiful and clean. My father was in a studio, but it had everything that he needed. It was clean, the bathroom was large, had a walk-in shower, and a large closet, was handicap accessible for a wheelchair, and it had all the safety precautions. The food was good. They provided three meals a day plus snacks. They had a pretty well-rounded menu. There were plenty of activities there.

Heritage Senior Living Monona was a better community than other places I've seen. It was clean and organized. They have activities and they have a bus that takes you places. The rooms were clean and the staff members were friendly.

It's been a month since mom moved in to Heritage Senior Living Monona. The place is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice as well. I had the chance to eat there, and the food is good. The downfall for this place is that they charged us more from what they quoted before the move.

The people at Heritage Senior Living Monona seem to be very qualified. I think a lot of them have been dementia-trained -- which I find very encouraging; my sister had an assessment, and it was very thorough. The place is nice and lovely. The rooms looked nice, delightful, and tolerable. I also observed the rooms in the memory care division, and they were of course much smaller, but that's what it is and it's probably quite secure for those who may wander or whatever else happens.

Heritage was wonderful, and that’s the one that I would choose for my sister. They have an independent living, assisted living, and a nursing home. The facility looked very nice; I was impressed. My sister smokes, and they did have a place for smoking. They had a computer room, a library, and a meals facility for a meal planning where you could participate in or not. The food was excellent; I was invited for lunch. They had beautiful granite counter tops for the kitchen.

Heritage Senior Living Monona was a very good place and large, too. They can handle Alzheimer's patients as well as rehab patients. The dining area was a sit-down, the rooms were very nice, and the common areas were nice. I've worked with the social worker there, and she was nice. The staff was very helpful, too.

We visited Heritage for my parents. It was close to where my parents live and recommended by others. The facility, rooms, and staff ratio were all very good. The people were very nice. The staff was understanding of the children's concern and the care we wanted for my parents. There were crafts and an information session going on while we were there. The dining room was very nice.

I think Heritage Monona is a very nice place. It is not a really old facility. It is only about three or four years old. In terms of sanitation, since I live in the independent area, we are responsible for our own sanitation and it is very good. Also my room is very nice and adequate. With regards to activities, we have a group that has a monthly dinner and entertainment in the common room. It is a catered meal and we all pay to belong to it. We also pay for the meals. They also have games here every evening for whoever wants to play them.

Heritage Monona has memory care, assisted living and retirement living. I had been in this place twice just looking at it. I could see a little more wear and tear but that would be natural because it has been in existence longer. It's not brand new building. They did discuss activities like bingo, games and stuff. They would bring people in to talk about different topics. I'm sure they had an activity room. For accommodations, I did see the rooms that were available. They were very kept up and very nice.

Heritage Monona is of good location near hospitals. We've been there a couple of times and we were treated very well. The cleanliness, the services that are available, the employees and the entire picture is a good one.

I have made referrals to this facility. This is an assisted living community and memory care home; there are also apartments available on the campus. Heritage is a for-profit organization and is part of a corporation. The Director and Assistant Director have been with this facility since its opening. Staff receives specialized training from the Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Alliance and includes the use of Validation Therapy techniques. The food is very good and approach meals as not only a nutritional need but also a need to appeal to all the senses. They used tablecloths and clothe napkins for all meals. They boast an active activity program with six or greater structured activities offered daily. A Team and Family atmosphere is present. The building is well maintained and was built with residents needs in mind. The building is shaped in a square and is open in the middle to a courtyard which allows residents to be outside in a secure area. An alarm system is in place as well. This facility often has a waiting list. They do not accept COP funding. They do have a Care Wisconsin Contract but most of their residents are private pay.
