I am currently staying at Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates and it is a fabulous place. It is a continuous care community on a very large piece of property that's beautiful with independent duplexes and nice apartments for independent living, so you buy into it. They have 21 duplexes. I'm in one of the 2-bedroom duplexes with a kitchen, a garage, and a back porch. All my maintenance is taken care of. The gardens are taken care of. To get a duplex and live here, I had to put down $150,000, which I could get back partially if I left within five years, and then every month I pay rent. The meals in the duplexes are not included, but you can add that service just like you can have housekeeping service if you want, instead of doing it yourself. They are like senior universities. They offer lots and lots of things to do both on campus and off campus, and via the Internet. They also have a gym, exercise classes daily, art classes, woodworking shops, and movies. You just call maintenance and they come over, and you can call security if you have any concerns. I could not be happier and safer.

Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates was immaculate. There was a lot of variety in where you could live, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and studio. The upkeep was very good. The grounds were well taken care of, and there are a lot of paths to walk. There's a library, exercise rooms, and woodshop. The staff was very accommodating, very nice, and very friendly. The rooms for the most part were very spacious. There were good kitchen facilities and storage. The layout of the rooms was good.

I'm waiting to move into Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates when it's ready. I chose it because the facilities were first-rate and the staff was very nice. I knew some people who were already there. The rooms are very nice, well kept up, and the person who gave the tour was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. They provided us with a lunch. There's a community garden, there's a fitness center, there are educational activities and social activities.

I had always planned to sell my house and move into a retirement community that could care for my needs as I aged and needed more care. Franke Tobey Jones is one of only two non-profit retirement communities in Tacoma. It has been in Tacoma a very long time, has a good reputation and I knew several people who lived there. It has an unpaid Board of Directors. I moved into a one bedroom Garden apartment during the pandemic last summer. I have a full kitchen, cook my own meals, have my own washer and dryer and a one hour cleaning service twice a month. I brought my cat with me. The staff has gone above and beyond to help us stay connected during this long time of no gatherings and made getting the covid shots an easy process. Because they adhered to CDC and state health dept. guidelines for the past year, there were very few cases of covid among residents and staff. None in my building. People I know on the meal plan are happy with the quality and variety of the food. During normal times there are a lot of activities with speakers from the local colleges for "senior university", band concerts in summer, garden plots, a well equipped gym with personal trainers on staff, a woodworking shop and craft room. As a gardener, hiker and birdwatcher, I love being next door to Point Defiance Park where I can go for daily walks. I thought I would miss my house and my garden, but I am very glad I made the switch to a retirement community. I am free to come and go and live my life as I see fit, but when the time comes that I need help, I can move to other buildings with meals and assistance.

I've been to Tobey Jones Retirement Estates to visit a friend. I was very pleased, I liked the atmosphere, I liked the openness of how you could move around. The staff was always very helpful to answer questions, and the people that lived there were really pleased with the care they were getting and the programs that were provided. The rooms I was able to see, it was a newer complex that they had built, and they were spacious, and easy to move within.

Franke Tobey Jones was probably the biggest facility that we visited and, unfortunately, they didn’t have any openings at that time and had a waiting list to get in. We got a tour, but we pretty much had to eliminate it right away because we were under a time frame to try and get my parents-in-law to move out here. It was an older establishment, and it felt almost like a campus of a small university because they had a lot of large brick buildings and a gorgeous view of the bay here. It was quite nice and had lots of nice facilities. They have a university for the seniors. They call it a university where people come in and give talks, and it sounded very nice. Very nice young lady, and she had been working there for some point. Most of her family members had stayed there at different times, so it sounded like a nice woman to be in charge of that department. When we have called to talk to them about coming out for an appointment and told them that we were looking for a place for our parents and we had an immediate need, I wish they had said there was nothing available right now unless you want to get on the waiting list. We didn’t know that until we got there and started the tour, so it was kind of a pointless tour. They should have told us that upfront before we said that we’d come out to take a look.

We visited Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates. It was a very nice visit. They're friendly people. It is a very impressive campus, and they offer not just apartments but also cottages. They also have an older section of apartments, and they have some beautiful garden apartments. The various alternatives that they give you for places to stay are extensive. They have green, well-maintained garden areas. They have education programs and very good activities.

We are living now in Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates and are very comfortable here in the assisted living building. We like it. The facility is beautiful. The meals are flexible and delicious. There are ample opportunities for activities. The people are interesting and friendly. The reasons we chose Franke Tobey Jones are because our insurance pays for this and it suits our needs. The apartment we have is exactly the right size and became available quickly. We like the location next to Point Defiance Park.

Franke Tobey Jones was a nice facility. It was an older facility. I thought it was probably 30 or 40 years old. They had nice apartments and duplexes. They had lots of activities, and it was in a really nice location. It was really a well-respected retirement community. The staff was very helpful. They gave us the grand tour and even gave us an option on coming and spending 2 or 3 days there, and it was very pleasant. The food was good. They had a calendar they showed us of everything that was going on. They had cruises, local trips, and also internal activities. They had lots of clubs like gardening club and bridge club. They had lots of trips to local museums and stuff. It was a really nice campus.

My Grandmother has lived at Tobey Jones for about two years now. I believe the whole facility has three separate buildings. Part is dedicated to independent seniors who live in their own apartments, and the rest is for people who need closer medical attention. My grandma has her own apartment with a kitchen, mainroom, bedroom, and bathroom, plus a outdoor balcony with a storage closet. She also has her own assigned parking space. She is very pleased with it and has no intention of moving anywhere else. She keeps active by attending art classes, participating in art shows, and attending concerts that are put on in the main building. The facility has a gym area with workout machines, and a cafe open for lunch with soups and sandwiches. I can't speak to the nightly food service, but I believe they have a dining room for those without a kitchen and she is free to eat there if she likes. Her apartment building has a lavish lobby sittingroom with a fireplace and a very friendly receptionist. The lawns and walkways are very clean and well-manicured with bushes and other plants. I have always felt comfortable visiting her there.
