I visited Brookdale Admiral Heights. The people were wonderful, very friendly, loving, and very personable. The facility was fantastic. It has a garden patio that you can go out on, and it's a nice outdoor space. The food was wonderful.

Brookdale Admiral Heights was great. I like the neighborhood. The place itself was comfortable. Everything was very clean. I looked at two apartments. The studio apartment seemed very small, but the 1-bedroom was more to the point. I like that one pretty well too. The people were extremely nice. The staff was extremely pleasant. I had lunch there, and their food was delicious. It was beautifully presented but it was sparse. There wasn't quite enough food.

I wasn't impressed with Brookdale Admiral Heights. It reminded me more of a nursing home or a step above a nursing home even though everybody had their own apartments. It was all internal. It was a big building and you go in and then you go up to the different floors to access the different apartments. It was average. The lady that took me on the tour was really nice. I got to that facility around lunchtime, but they didn't offer me lunch or anything. There was a trivia game going while I was there, which I thought was really cool, and a lady was giving trivia information. There was a gaming room where they had a pool table and computers. They had a nice little terrace off of that that was really nice if you wanted to just go there and sit down. I just didn't like that whole big building where you walk inside and then you just go up an elevator -- it felt more like a hospital.

Brookdale Admiral Heights was on a really busy street. There weren't any balconies, and there was a small garden, but it wasn’t cared for, so it didn’t look inviting. It was in too busy of an area for my mom to feel comfortable in with too much road noise. The staff was excellent and spent a long time talking to me about everything. I was very impressed.

Brookdale Admiral Heights was fine, and we liked the Admiral Way district. There's plenty of stuff around, but it was more expensive than the other two places we visited.

I was surprised that Brookdale Admiral Heights was pricey for an older building. The units were small and had not been updated. The positive thing about it, according to the marketing person, was you could come down and order off the menu 24 hours a day. They didn't have a fixed time for eating like most places in their dining room. The building and dining room were small. Every community space was tiny, but they're in the process of updating units as people move out or pass away. It is in walking distance to a lot of things that you might want to do, like a couple of restaurants across the street and nearby, a theater across the street, Rite-Aid right behind it, and a market a block away. You probably would need a car to still be able to go out and do something. Everybody I saw there was quite elderly and in assisted living. I liked the manager/marketing person very much. She was open and really tried to show the best of the facility. She also has kids in the nearby high school, so she involves the programs from that high school in the community. She brings in a choir and things that her own children are involved in.

The rooms are OK at Brookdal Admiral Heights. The marketer that we spoke to was very pleasant, but the place didn’t smell good and looked grungy. We didn’t like it. I would not recommend them. They need to clean the place and make it smell good.

Emeritus at Admiral Heights was a beautiful place, and everybody was wonderful. The dining room was great, and there was nothing absolutely wrong that we could see with that place. But it was a very long drive for us, and that was the only thing but we eliminated that. The rooms and apartments were beautiful and spacious. The restaurant looked nice, and everybody seemed very happy there. The lady did mention a lot of things that they have, and it was a retirement assisted living combination. There were many active people there that were going in and out; it was probably more retirement people than anybody else.

I visit this facility regularly, as my client has weekly hair appointments here. I am always impressed. The lobby is beautiful and clean, and there are often musical performances in the afternoons. There are a multitude of things to do, whether it's visiting the casino, learning to use Facebook, or playing Wii Golf. The staff knows my client by name, even though she isn't a resident. I would not worry about my client's welfare if she chose to live at this facility.
