My grandmother lived there for about 5 months. I had to move her out of there during the pandemic due to multiple issues including infected pressure sore injuries that got her admitted to the hospital (within a month of moving in), and massive medication errors that happened repeatedly (her doctor even changed her medications so that she would only have to take pills once per day so that they would hopefully get it right, but they still didn't administer the correct doses). I was counselled by her medical staff to report the facility to the department of health. I'm so glad I moved her out of there.

If I could give this place a ZERO on every account, I would. My dad lived there two weeks before he passed away, and we moved my mom out within ten days after my dad's service. I can't even describe how awful it was, but here are a few examples. On several occasions, my mom would call and tell me that she hadn't received her medicine. Upon examination, medicines were not given at the correct time, and sometimes were given in incorrect dosages. On one occasion Melanie actually cancelled my mom's prescription of my mother's anti anxiety medicine - right after my dad passed away. The food is terrible- one night they ordered pizza and had potato chips. Another time, my mom asked for a vegetable and was given yogurt. The night of my father's service, my grief stricken mother fell so hard that her head hit the wall and left a dent. They called 911 and the paramedics came, but did not transmit mom to the hospital. Aspen Care NEVER told me - my mom did. The rooms can get very dirty. One week, their housekeeper was sick and instead of hiring temporary help or cleaning themselves, they just kept making excuses. I went out and vacuumed the room and scoured the bathroom, and they apologized and kept making excuses. My mom told me many times that she pressed the button for help in the night and no one would come. I witnessed this as well - after 10 - 15 minutes when no one came, I would go get help. There was an excuse for EVERYTHING. They have a calendar of activities on the wall, but the activities rarely happened. I think there was music once in the six weeks we were associated with Aspen Care. On top of it all - it is wildly expensive. We moved my mom to a beautiful, clean, social place with many activities for $2,000 less a month. Do not use this facility!

We love the staff and feel secure that Mom is receiving the care she needs to stay healthy and enjoy her days. She loves having contact with their dogs and it brings life to the whole place. (It means so much to her!) It would be great if the cooking improved. Otherwise, this is the best adult family home in Spokane and Spokane Valley.

If you like small dogs pooping in your room or HUGE dogs in the back yard that could be used as a restful area for residents, you will like this facility. Also picture kitchen help wiping up dog pee on the dining area floor with a rag and returning to the kitchen. Not very appetizing.
