I visited Avista Spokane almost three years ago. I think the place was mostly assisted living. The apartments they had were so tiny. There was a place for your bed, a little shower, a microwave, a sink, and a little refrigerator. That was it. It's also so big that taking a walk around the place would be exhausting. The facility seemed nice, though. They have an area where somebody would play the piano. They had a place where you could work on some jigsaw puzzles. They had a library and a place for church services. They also had a place for people who were doing well enough to go out and work in their gardens. They had raised garden beds. They also had a thing that if you couldn't drive anymore, they would take you to your appointments like a doctor's appointment and things like that. The food was good too. They had tons of different kinds of juice that you could choose from. They had coffee, tea, and milk. It was lunchtime during my visit and they served fish, vegetables, and potatoes. They had a couple of different kinds of dessert too.

Avista Spokane was spacious. The rooms were very nice. I met with the social director there and she was very nice and very helpful. She followed up with me even though we had to move beyond. They had a nice outdoor setting courtyard.

I toured Avista Spokane. The other residents in the community were extremely happy. We dropped in unannounced several times and they were more than willing to meet with us. We had a meal there. It's good food. They have studios and a couple of one-bedroom apartments. So they have a little kitchenette, which would be the microwave. The person who gave the tour was kind, considerate, and encouraging.

We toured here. It was very, very nice. The facility is smaller than many, so it offers a more intimate and home-like environment than some of the larger facilities. It was all on one level, which was nice. My mother-in-law was pleased with that function. She didn't want to have to ride elevators or take stairs or do any of that. This was all a one-level facility. The rooms were adequate. They weren't overly large. They had studios and one bedrooms. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming. There was a room that had all kinds of games and puzzles. There was a table full of residents that were playing a card game together. They do local outings and that sort of thing.

It was very small, but it was a wonderful place. The staff gave us an amazing tour. She was very honest about the care they give, and about what they can't provide. As soon as we walked in, we just loved the community feel, the warmth, and the care. It was outstanding. A lot of the doors were open. They were decorated with each person's little personal things inside as well as outside. It was our number one place to go. They provided a lot of activities on a variety of levels. They had a dining room for a family where more than one or two people could come and share a birthday or a holiday with family, and you could be there with as many people as would fit in the room and have a meal. It was a special place. They had a menu that looked very balanced. The place reminded me of an ordinary home. It wasn't sterile like some of the nursing homes. It was perfect.
