I like Northaven Assisted Living. I thought it was OK. It was very pleasant. The staff was very nice. I thought that the facilities that we saw were lovely. They were very nice. If it were me, I would be very comfortable in a place like this.

This is not the most attractive assisted living facility. The structures are austere and like airflow compared to the Merrill Gardens. However, it is much more affordable, and amenities such as the fitness programs foster a communal spirit. Although the buildings are not particularly attractive for strolls, the surrounding neighborhood is quite nice. Some areas of North Seattle suffer from high crime rates, but this facility is located near the Northgate mall. Several parks and coffee shops are within walking distance, and a hospital is nearby. A QFC is also close. Northhaven also provides visitor rooms for a small fee. I found this to be VERY considerate, and also a positive indicator of the communal feeling of the place. One downside of being located so north in Seattle is that it is a bit far from cultural areas. However, Northgate terminal is being expanded, and the bus system is fairly well developed and accessible. Overall, despite being initially off put by superficial measures like the appearance of the structures, I left impressed with the community feeling and the convenient location relative to price.
