This is a friendly and talkative community of people from a cross section of cultures and interests. While you can remain in your apartment, it’s quite pleasant going down, sharing stories , and having a bite to eat. On most days, I take both exercise classes, moderate and high level. My other favorite activity is artistic creations where I discovered I can paint..

My parents have moved into Regency Newcastle. I chose it because it was close to me and I enjoyed the people that work there. I talked to a lot of them. My parents' room is large. We got a two-bedroom, two-bath. It's a beautiful room. All the employees there were very supportive. With my mom, it's been rough trying to switch her, and they've all been just great trying to help her through the big change. They have a therapy pool there with a physical therapist, and it would be really good for both of my parents. The dining area is absolutely beautiful, but it was shut down because of COVID. I only had a hamburger there and my parents have had nothing but sandwiches. There are a lot of activities, but again, it was shut down. We haven't had a chance to do any of those. I did love that they have a fireplace downstairs in the bistro that they could go down. There's water and coffee for them throughout the whole day. I loved the outdoors. There's seating for them with umbrellas over and they could go there and get outside and enjoy listening to the birds. There are walking trails close by. There's a beautiful park right across the street.

I'm at Regency Newcastle, and I'm very happy with it. If you have a need for anything, they have people here that will help you (with showers, laundry, etc.). The food is just more than I want.

Consistently understaffed, up to 30 min waits after calling for help. Employees only stay a few months. Four activity directors in a year and a half. Food has gone from good to awful since the last chef was let go. The facility appears dirty from the upholstry on the dining room chairs to the light fixtures which are full of dead bugs.

My mother has been in the assisted living unit of Regency Newcastle since July. They also offered respite care when we were leaving town for a week, and we needed her to be some place safe. The facility and the people are very nice. While she was there when we were gone, however, she suffered a stroke that they were not aware of. She was in the hospital, then went to a rehab place. At the end of her stay at the rehab place, she wanted to go back to Regency. We weren't very happy, but that's where she wanted to go, so we did move her back in. They've done OK, but they've had a couple of situations where they left her sitting in her wheelchair all night long because they forgot to put her in bed. She has a small studio apartment there that allows her to still have her own space but have people there that will care for her. It's a beautiful facility for what you pay. As far as the care, after a couple of incidents, it has been pretty good, partly because they realized they were in trouble with the State when they left her sitting in her chair. We pay $4,600 for her room and her care, which is full assist, which means that they dress her, get her in and out of bed, etc. Her room is beautiful. The people that work there are good, very friendly, and pretty consistent. She has had the same caretaker the whole time she's been there. Most of the residents seem very happy. The food is good. Their staff turnover doesn't seem huge. It's pretty much been the same people the whole time. She is happy there. If I had a choice, I probably would have moved her somewhere else, but I still tell people to check out Regency when they're looking for a place because it's pretty reasonably priced. We go in there all the time. They never know when we're going to show up; it could be midnight or 4:00 in the morning. They're kept on their toes because we're very consistent in coming in and out of the facility.

The staff was just great at Regency Newcastle. The rooms were small but they were adequate. They had all kinds of things, like swimming, poker night, dancing, and movies. I like the staff. The care was just excellent.
