I went to the Merrill Gardens at Kirkland. I liked the fact that this was in a city. They were very good. They had a gym and a hair salon. They had activities. The staff did not follow up with me, but they were friendly. It's near shops and restaurants.

I visited Merrill Gardens at Kirkland, and it was wonderful. They are very kind people. People there seemed very happy and very caring. It was just that the cost per month is too high, and I'm still very independent. But the place is beautiful; it's very nice. It's a block away from Lake Washington. Kirkland is a beautiful, small area, and people like to walk down to the beach. They had a very nice place for meals while someone plays the piano. Also, the lady who showed us around was very, very nice.

Merrill Gardens at Kirkland is rather upscale and more like a hotel than anything. They have a lot of planned activities. The people are going places all the time and doing things there. The food is fantastic. It's very comfortable and they have excellent staff. The building and the decor are fantastic. They have everything from studios to two-bedroom townhouses. Out of all the places I visited, they are the top. The price is expensive. I've been down there a couple of times and each time, I ended up talking to somebody different, and they were all well informed. The dining area looks like a restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you order off of a menu.

Merrill Gardens at Kirkland felt like a condominium complex that happened to be dedicated to independent and assisted living. It felt more contemporary and more welcoming, similar to a hotel environment. The rooms were what I would have expected to see for a one-bedroom or a studio. The only thing that was lacking in the units was the storage because that was the most difficult thing to build into a one-bedroom apartment.

Merrill Gardens at Kirkland was very good. The lady who showed us around was very kind. We saw an exercise room, dining room, and a room with a pool table. The staff member told us about the different clubs they have, like a bus that takes people around and to doctor's appointments. Each place has a little kitchenette. She took us to a one-bedroom, and it was very clean. I think people were friendly. They had a little balcony and a good garden space, so it has a lot going for it. The reason we'd rate it as a 4 is because we would love to have a hot tub and a little pool for exercising, but they don't have that there. Also, they have a three-meal plan, and we'd like to have a variety, like a two-meal plan, and we're hoping that it'd be a little cheaper, so we can make out own breakfast or lunch. They have an open kitchen that you can go anytime to have breakfast or lunch with a nice variety of salads and everything like that. One wing is for assisted living and one wing is for people who are on their own. They have a little theater.

I also visited Merrill Gardens at Kirkland, and this place was a little more upscale. It had independent living, but it didn’t have memory care. It was definitely more expensive, newer, and fancier.

I liked Merrill Gardens very much. It’s a very well-kept, upscale facility. The people were very nice and gave me a tour even though I hadn’t scheduled one yet. I saw a one-bedroom apartment, which was large and very nice. The dining area looked like a hotel, and they had a nice salad bar. The only downside I discovered was they’re really more independent senior living with light assisted living, and I think my dad needs a bit more memory care support, so it wasn’t the best fit for him. The staff was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They kept following up with me, too; they were very helpful about that.

The director gave us a very nice tour and answered all my questions. My daughter was with me, they served us lunch, and it was very nice. They had a very nice facility, and the food was very adequate. The apartments were very nice. I especially liked the fact that they had full kitchens. The staff were all friendly, and we were introduced around. If my husband and I were living independently, Merrill Gardens would be a very nice place to live, but not if he needed nursing care because they didn't offer that.

I was very impressed with Merrill Gardens. It’s pretty close to Washington, so I can walk if I want to. I liked that it didn’t have 3 meals a day; it’s a nightmare to me if I do that because I am not a big person and I still love to cook. I liked everything there.

I've been staying here at Merrill Gardens for five years now and I like it here. I have lots of friends here. We have an activity director and he set something going on all the time. But staying here is too expensive.

The staff was extremely friendly and happy to assist. The rooms were spacious and very well maintained. Food service was great and many of the folks living there took advantage of having all their meals cooked and brought up for them in their rooms. Very clean, friendly place.
