The bathrooms are so small the residents cannot use them with a rollator or wheelchair. The bathrooms are all dated except a few that have been updated some by the family of the residents. The food is only good on days when the one cook that is ok makes the food. All other days is terrible and all food is being driven in by the already over worked staff from the Harbor down the street. You eat on paper or styrofoam plates and cups. There is only ever one staff member at nights from 7-7. That leads me to the biggest complaint about this place and that is the exec director allowed my Dad to walk out in 29 degree temperature at 2am in the dark on a rollator and a huge fall risk looking for his dead wife. She didn't have enough staff on duty or qualified to control the situation she created and left for the new hire she was training just hours before. She wouldn't allow the new hire to call the police or the family to help out. Luckily an off duty worker that knew my Dad found him walking the street in Stanardsville in the cold in his pjs and T-shirt. This same exe director next day wouldn't allow the family to bring in external care from a local agency so that this couldn't happen again. She insisted on picking the care that was allowed in the building and usually that meant her family or friends that needed extra money. She had no remorse for what happened nor took any responsibility when talking to the family the next day about the incident. The security cameras that were up, she had taken down were bought, installed and supported for the last 3 years by the family. The big TV in the dinning room and sound system was bought and installed by the family. The outside pergola was bought by another family that has since left the facility as well for the same reason our father had to leave. The place is old and no one seems interested in updated it. The staff is very small and very over worked. The staff is very caring and try to do what they can in a very limited and dictated by the exe director environment.

I visited this assisted living unannounced. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and informative. The place is newly refurbished and is spotless. The staff introduced me to resident, who each said great things about their home. Robin the administrator has worked their for 20 years and has a very soothing soul. She clearly has a passion for resident care. We will be moving my mother in here soon. The most homely one we visited and it has all levels f care.
