My mother recently passed away after being a resident of Red Oak Manor for a little over four and half years. When I would stop by to visit with her, the facility was always clean. I knew my mother was safe, comfortable, and content. Her daily needs and routines such as meals, medication, hygiene, and socialization were meet. She was content which helped me be content. I want to thank the Red Oak Manor staff for the care that they provided to my mother.

A Very Un Professional Place for Your Loved Ones ,the Staff is there for days, hang up and rude for people callimg for Loved Ones Residing there ,not making sure they are up to have daily meals, hang up on people calling for loved ones saying they are sleeping,Not any RNs present, taking advantage of residents by using their names coming up when they call instead of the residents name ,taking advantage of residents

I visited the facility June 2013. I was not impressed at all! The staff are not trained with the communication skills to deal with the residents suffering with Alzheimer's. There lack of this is not only bad for the outcome of the care and safety of the employees but also the care and safety of the residents. You can push a person to the wall and not expect to get pushed back. These residents have child like behavior and should be addressed as such. Yelling back at them does not help, you might as well go beat your head on the wall. I almost thought I was dealing with hired help instead of trained nurses. Also I know how a lie can be twisted into a story that makes the resident not worthy of their words. Some people call those CYA with what you want the families to hear. Underestimating a resident even with their mental stability will sooner or later come and bite you in the behind. Also there are really no sitting places outside to sit as a group in a non smoking area when you visit. The shelter that's provided is used as a smoking area.

Red Oak Manor is an assisted living facility that accepts Medicare and Medicaid as well as private insurance. Red Oak Manor is a 38-bed facility. Upon arriving at the facility, it was noted that the parking lot was small and the building had a dingy feel. The staff is very pleasant. The staff seems to know the patients very well and treat them like they were family. The facility is very old and run down. Part of the building has grass about five foot tall at the window. The facility has poor curb appeal. The interior of the facility hasn't been updated. The med techs didn't seem very knowledgeable about the medications they were administering to the patients. There were no RN's available at the facility. It was also noticed while walking around that some patients at Red Oak Manor aren't truly assisted living patients. Patients that aren't able to get out of bed without assistance, feed themself without assistance, or even talk don't really qualify for assisted living.
