I could not be happier with the care my mother receives at Brightview Woodburn in Annandale, VA. They keep me updated on her care and offer suggestions that are most helpful. She has 24-hour care and assistance. At her age, this year 100, she needs a great deal of support and Brightview has more than provided that support.

My friend lives in Brightview Woodburn. I visit her every week. My dear friend has Alzheimer's, and she's in the memory care section. She seems somewhat satisfied. In general, it's clean and neat. The people who work there are approachable and they respond with requests. I think the facility is somewhat new, like within the past 10 years. The spaces are light; there's a good amount of sunlight. There's nice exterior spaces, which are always pleasing. I mean, it's been too cold to go there these past couple of months. Along one of the main halls in the memory care wing, there are windows to a little veranda with what looks like comfortable seating. It's near the dining room, so that area is very sunny and bright. It looks like it's going to be a fun spot to be sitting outside with my friend. Her room space is south I think. She gets a lot of sun throughout the day, which is very nice. I think that's important to us, a bright view when you first arrive. It's mostly the lobby and circulation space, and in the distance I can see a small sitting space. I really prefer when you arrive inside the community building that it feels like the residents get to be comfortable in all of the spaces in a community. I like to see that the residents get to enjoy the entire building since they're paying for it. The entire building should be their home where they get to if they want to lounge and read newspapers and magazines. My friend sometimes has an opportunity to sit where there is live music, which is very pleasing. I came across one time when I visited, where there was a vocalist who was singing to the residents. I've heard music coming from other parts of the building. I think they have a lot of live music performances, which I think adds a real nice level of joy to the atmosphere of a home. I saw the residents eating, and the food looked appetizing.

Coming from another AL facility in the area a year ago, I was hoping that there was a greater level of care and concern for my mother at Brightview. I have NOT been disappointed! Although mom cannot really participate in many of the activities (due to a stroke and some dementia), there are a variety of activities going on every day. Her room is bright and clean, and the food is healthy and varied. Most importantly, the staff CARE. It is not unusual for me to drop by and find a staff member conversing with her and making sure her needs are met. I am so happy we found Brightview!

I was a little concerned about my mom moving from a condo to a studio but it has turned out to be just perfect! There is room for a seating area and her bed. The large window lets in lots of light. The bathroom is large and easy to get to and the closet has plenty of room. The kitchen and shelves have a refrigerator, sink and microwave. So handy. The food is so good and the menu is extensive. The staff is very attentive to my mom and friendly as well. She enjoys talking with them. The wide halls, art work and activities make for a warm family like feeling. Brightview Woodburn was an excellent choice.

My mother is in Brightview Woodburn. It's been very positive so far. We've been very pleased with the staff that we've dealt with. The facility is brand new and very nice. They have a gym and a couple of gathering areas. It's small. It's nothing like some of the bigger assisted living places, but they have everything you need. They have a nice, bright, cheery dining area. There are a lot of activities. They have bingo, a book group, tai-chi, church, and movies every day.

Brightview Woodburn was very nice. I saw the memory care folks all eating together, and they had a beautiful patio. The staff member was very nice, and they're keeping in touch. They had a lot of activities, but they're not bringing anybody in from the outside at the moment. They had exercise programs. The dining room was wide open, beautiful, and looked like a restaurant.

The rooms are spacious and very well equipped with micro-wave and refrigerator. The staff are incredible. They are helpful and available. In normal times the residents enjoy daily activities such as bingo and happy hour and movies. The atmosphere is like a big family. The community offers every amenity one could wish for. The main concern of management and the staff is the well being of the residents and they do a wonderful job of it.

My mother is in Brightview Woodburn. It's an excellent facility and a great community. The staff, physical appearance and cleanliness are outstanding. They have daily activities, music, movies, exercise classes, and themed get-togethers. The dining room is very nice and set up so that the residents interact with each other. The food is good and service is sometimes really good, sometimes very slow.

I have nothing positive to say about Brightview Woodburn in Annandale, unfortunately. The management is terrible and it's very poorly-managed. Mostly the nurses are untrained and the morale is terrible here. They have outings once a week, fieldtrips, and bingo almost every day. They advertise that they have transportation, but they don't really have it. The apartments are a bit small, they're carpeted, and I think they're a little bit dingy with old fixtures. The cabinets are old, it has a very old style, and there's nothing modern about them at all. They come equipped with a microwave and a small fridge. The cleanliness is not very good. They promised they'd clean once a week, but housekeeping isn't doing their job at all. There's a problem with roaches here. It's in a bad location and on a very busy street with very little around here other than schools and gas stations.
