My mother is in Ridgeview Gardens of St George and I really like it there. All the people are really nice and it's a really nice place. My mom is really comfortable and she has a little apartment. All of her meals are taken care of, and they take them a couple times a week on little tours to check out nature. They help with getting them to doctors' appointments. Also, when the family comes to visit, we get really nice treatment. It's as if my mom is at home, except she has people to do the cooking for her, and if she has any problems she gets help. My mom needs to wear special elastic stockings for her respiration and one of the people comes by and helps her in and out of those. Her apartment has a comfortable bedroom and a large bathroom with a shower that's comfortable for her the way she likes it, and there are lots of spaces for towels. Once in a while, one of us comes to stay for a couple of days with her there, and if we want to take meals with her, we just let the people know a little while in advance, and for $5 they'll set a plate for you. They all seemed to be enjoying life and each other's company there. The food seemed nutritious, but kind of boring as far as repertoire, but for the money they pay, they do pretty well, and there's nothing to stop them from ordering something more exotic. The price is also a lot lower than other places.

I was not very impressed with Ridgeview Gardens of St. George. It's a pretty small community. I think they only have like 50 people that live there. The building wasn't kept up as nicely. The landscaping was not very good. The only thing I can remember about that is they have a courtyard, but it needed some maintenance. They showed me that they have a resident bunny rabbit that runs around out there, but I wasn't particularly impressed with that. They did not seem to be aware that I was coming. There was no one at the desk to greet visitors or to see what their needs were. I sat there for quite a long time before someone came by and asked if they could help me. I said I had an appointment and they said, "Oh, well, I don't think that person is here today." It just wasn't organized. I wasn't impressed at all. A windstorm had done quite a bit of damage to an area of the building. Maybe I just caught them in a bad time. They just seemed to be quite out of sync there. I wasn't there very long because the person that was showing me around doesn't normally do that. I thought I had an appointment, but they didn't have the foggiest idea of what was going on. I didn't have a good vibe about it. I told my family I don't want to go there. The staff tried, but they didn't know what they were doing. They didn't even know what room to show me. There was an apartment that was kind of opened, someone lived there, and she had me just kind of peek in and that's all that we did.

My sister is in Ridgeview Gardens of St. George and it's been difficult. She needs a lot of care, and so far, they've been disappointing. With the button that you push to get help, the whole system has been down, so it's been hard. She's not getting the level of care that they said they could provide. The people are happy and they're friendly there, but she just needs more care. Like any place, some staff is helpful and others are not. The food is fine and the environment is very good. They should improve their care, particularly at night time. During the night shift, she pushes the buttons and they don't come when they should be coming in every 2 hours to take her to the bathroom and they're not. So she's lying in urine. I'm hoping that this gets worked out. If it doesn't, we're going to have to find a different place. They could use an exercise class because they don't have an exercise class.
