The Village at Incarnate Word is a nice, Catholic community which is what Mom wanted. The staff is very nice, friendly, and helpful. They have crafts, exercise classes, and church classes. The food is very good. Mom is receiving very gentle and kind care there. It is a beautiful and established place. There are a lot of shaded trees with nice landscaping.

My father and I toured The Village at Incarnate Word. The facility was nice. It's rated not only in San Antonio but it's rated across the country fairly high. So, everything that we've seen, the accommodations that they had was good. The only negative thing is it is on Broadway. So, I think with my father driving, it would have been kind of hard for him to be getting in and out of the facility because of the traffic on Broadway. Otherwise, everything else was great. The staff was great. They were very informative and assisted us even with my father not cooperating at times. But they were able to explain to him, let him know, and talk to him more about the facility to make him feel comfortable. The structure of the building is still sound. It is an older building because it's been there for a while. However, the maintenance was still intact. I didn't see any cracking of the walls or any damaged structures or anything like that. Everything seemed to be well taken care of.

San Antonio does not have many CCRCs. In fact, the only one I located is The Village at Incarnate Word. It was beautifully maintained. The residents I saw seemed very happy there. I was very impressed with the person who guided us on our tour. I toured all levels of care. I was really impressed with the facility, but it did not seem like my place.

We checked out The Village at Incarnate Word. I pretty much liked it. I liked the fact that they have the kitchen in a centralized area. They have a craft area, too. It's an older place and I feel like the rooms were small. There's no kitchen in the room, which is OK, but I liked the fact that they had different places to eat. I liked the layout. It had windows, so it's bright. It's next to the college and there's not a whole lot of places for somebody to be outside. It's off the street, so if you're looking for something to be outside and to do your walks, it was not that great. It's very clean.

The Village at Incarnate Word was well run. It's essentially kind of split into two groups. There are two hallways, but it's very convenient for the residents because each hallway has its own dining area and common area. The rooms were nice. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and knowledgeable about the facility. I don't know anything about the food, but the dining area was nice. They were getting ready to have lunch and so they were bringing people in to sit down, and everyone had a spot, and they were conversing with each other. The rooms were very nice sized. They were easy to access and easy for the residents not to get lost because it was just one row. They had a nice little garden area where they could go outside and sit and garden and watch the birds and things like that. It was very well kept. My only real issue with them is that it was a lot more expensive than the other places I had visited.

I was impressed with The Village at Incarnate Word. They have a good setup. It was also within walking distance from where I live, so I could personally spend more time with my sister if she had been there. The facility was fine. It was clean and well taken care of. One thing that bothered me was that the room that my sister would have gone to was a little bit small for any furniture she might want to take with her. Other than that, I liked its location. If she wanted to get a bus from there, she could get one and go anywhere in the city she wanted. She could walk next door to the stores and get anything. They have a swimming pool, a beauty salon, daily mass (as we are Catholics), and a lot of interaction with the students from the University of Incarnate Word since they are all on the same campus). I thought it was the best place.

The Village at Incarnate Word has all three levels. It has independent living, assisted living as well as convalescent. I only looked at one of the buildings and I like the facilities. They have quite a few choices, so you can get a small place or a larger place, but I was interested in a one-bedroom with another room like a den attached to it. They've got quite a bit of choice as to what you would like. What I also like about it was that the eating facilities are in the same building. They have several places where you can eat, which is good. Also, I'm Catholic and went to Catholic school through high school, so I like the fact that there is a chapel there in the building. I like that quite a bit. The drawback that I see is that I'm on a no-gluten diet and they don't have an actual no-gluten diet. So I would have to go ahead and probably just have one meal and be careful of what I eat. I only talked to one person, the lady that was showing me around, and she was excellent. She gave me very good information about everything. The facility was nice and very clean. It did not have old folks' smell to it.

We toured The Village at Incarnate Word. Their facility is very outdated. I don't think it has ever been updated since it was built. And although the room was considered an apartment, it looked like a large hospital room. It looked very sterile, very outdated, and had no kitchens. It looked like a big hospital room, so we didn't like that. The staff was great. They didn't have very many activities or amenities. I was disenchanted with the entire tour. It was just not for us. However, if you're used to being around older Catholic people, it would be great.

My aunt has been placed at The Village at Incarnate Word. It is a wonderful place. They have three levels of care. The nuns run the community, so it is a charity-run community. They have taken care of my aunt. They found her wandering around and helped her get around. When she got up in the middle of the night, they have shown her what to do, where to go and how to take care of things. They have been very, very supportive and energetic to help. Everybody there has just been very, very nice. My aunt has been there since July 14th. She has a living area with two bedrooms, so she has a sitting area, a bedroom, and a TV room. She does not have a kitchen facility in her unit.

My mother is a practicing Catholic, and that is the focus. The Village at Incarnate Word is a Catholic facility. They celebrate feast days, they have bible study, and they have mass daily. I know they have numerous other things as well. I would describe the facility as large, clean, and homey. From the moment I walked in, there was a real spirit about the place that made me feel like God was present, so that was awesome.

The Village was a really nice place. The staff was nice. They just didn’t have the room type that we needed at the time. The rooms were very, very nice. Some of them had been remodeled recently. They all faced out to a courtyard, and that was really, really pleasant. We did not try eating there but the food did smell good. I believe they had bingo. They were a Catholic community, so they had mass and rosaries. They had exercises also and outings. They had good security. There was somebody at the reception desk 24 hours a day.

We chose Village at Incarnate World because it had a good reputation and MY mom felt comfortable with the facility. It has assisted living as well as independent living. In their independent living, THE apartments are spacious and very well designed. They felt comfortable. The staff are great as well as the services. We really like it. The food is very good.

This is a great place. They've got lovely living arrangements. It was very nice. I have nothing but positive things to say about it. They had a 2-bedroom apartment with a lovely kitchen, good-sized living room and bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (full bath). It has a cheery bright room. Very nice environment and dedicated staff. It is located right next door to an HEB, a very nice market place and very close to the zoo, if you wanna walk. It's right off 281 and Broadway.

The Village at Incarnate Word is a small retirement community with ties to the Catholic faith. Despite the Catholic ties, the Village is open to residents of all faiths. It was originally founded by the Sisters of Charity and operates as a non-profit organization, so all funds are reinvested back into the community. The Village has a variety of fun exercise classes for residents plus scheduled activities, arts and crafts, and guest speakers. The individual I know who lived at the Village enjoyed their water exercise classes and their Sunday mass. Monthly rental fees are reasonable and they offer one and two bedroom housing units. There are no separate villas or detached condos. The Village offers skilled long-term nursing care for residents who need around the clock services. They also have a separate section of apartments for residents with Alzeheimers or dementia. Overall, the Village at Incarnate Word is a good choice if you're looking for an assisted living community with Catholic faith and quality care.
